Gah! Why do I keep coming here?? I found a seemingly harmless thread about an oddly colored duck egg, and now I have added another kind of duck I'd like to add to our flock. Doh!! But, ...Cayuga ducks...they're eggs are so pretty!!

So now i am looking for, more quail, few more hens, and a few breeds of ducks. Heaven help me.

OK repeat after me:
My name is __________
and I am a BYC addict.
LOL!

I scare myself sometimes, the first year I cooked up so many projects I wanted to try, and sent away to England for a book on duck genetics and made out stacks of pages with Punnett squares. I also wanted to have hens that gave me a sample of every possible duck egg color. Now I'm also fascinated with Muscovy, but have to stop myself from getting one because of a lack of space. I finally realized I can't do it all so now I try to force myself to focus on my hatching addiction and keeping a great flock of Welsh Harlequins.
None of this would have happened if I had never found this website.

I am...I am an addict!!! LOL I have to try to hold myself back from pulling out the bator. Thankfully even if i did i don't have eggs in which to hatch anyway...right now. ANd thankfully the bank account won't allow for egg or bird purchases for now. Not until payday anyway.

Well, if you do decide to pull it out, I would recommend that you try and get hatching eggs locally! I have had rotten luck trying to hatch shipped eggs!

I am downsizing if you want more chicks/ pullets/ hens, I will just give you a couple!

I love BYC! How can someone turn down free chickens?
I just finished my last hatch till spring. I now have 12 CM mixes chirping away in the guest bathroom, good thing we don't get too many guests eh?. And I definatly am going to have a difficult time waiting until spring to hatch again. Especially since this spring is focusing on hatching out as many of my BCM eggs, looking for the best of the best, as I can for my jumpstart on my part of strenghthing the breed.

We got about 6-8 inches in the last 24 hours and the roads are ice rinks so I hope everyone takes their time this morning, and stay home if you can.

I know the feeling. I am already searching for another incubator too, so I can have one for the chicken eggs and one for the ducks. I cannot wait to hatch more out in the spring. Any one needing a broody BYC addict to hatch out some birds please call upon me. I do use incubators since rarely do my 40 hens go broody, I just love to hatch them. With the success of my first call hatch 4 out of 9, I look forward to the challenge again. I also have a small breeding stock of RIR roo and White rock hens to make my own Golden Comets. Great birds by the way. -15 this morning and it was toooooo cold to snow in NW Colo.

Speaking of free chickens I have a free rooster of an unknown mix of breeds. He is a pretty nice guy. Not fond of being handled but not aggressive at all. To top it all he is available for the low price of free

He accidentally got mixed in with my orpington chicks when I bought them. We thought he was a splash orpington. He is a nice guy to the ladies.

Here he is

IdealisticRoo....where are you? I'd be so happy to get a few pullets or hens from you!! I have had so-so luck with incubating shipped eggs.
