X3

My friend @kerstiens has bantam chocolate orpingtons and her male is quite exquisite from pretty good lines from my understanding. Orpingtons aren't my thing, but they are my friend's favorite (she has ALL kinds, jubilee, mottled, red, black, white, red laced, etc) dwarf olandsk and 2 ayam cemani lines. Well 1 ayam cemani line and part of the line I now have.

Going to the dr today. Freaked out, coughing up blood with green mucus.

Loud roos proceseed. 2 ayam cemani roos that have had the crow reduction surgery available, I will even part with an ayam cemani pullet to find these guys a new home. These are Mike Bean's non Smithsonian line and are NOT perfectly black, but over 60 hatches this past year 10% were pure black. Seriously, it's Christmas, if you want a pair of ayam cemani, please pm me. I know ac are on many a wish/want list... these are purebreed. Surprisingly winter hardy. I have more ac chicks in a brooder at my friends place lol.. but these are juveniles

Oh you made fudge for the whole board? ;) love fudge, I have suffered from migraines all my life, so I can empathize with your situation. I try to avoid sugar as much as possible as well and I use other alternative sweeteners, raw honey, brown rice syrup and coconut nectar syrup. Are you willing to share the migraine med your on? I ask because the only one that I have found that works for me is Frova. However my insurance now will not cover it and there is no way I can afford the $400 price tag for 9 migraine pills for a month. I used to blow through the pack by mid month, but lately have had a reduction of migraines. I consider it age and just a complete change of eating habits.

Sugar for me is my nemesis, I love it and once I have it then I crave it. After stopping all processed foods and sugar, the craving goes away after about a week.

The first prescription, just happened to work for me. Maxalt XLT which I believe is the generic for Rizatriptan. The base goes with generic most times, unless the PCM states otherwise. It's a little wafer I let dissolve under my tongue, I hate it. It's sickly sweet, and tends to make me feel sick to my stomach till I can swish.
I agree diet plays a huge role with migraines. I try to stay away from most sugars, but it's not always easy. Ever find yourself eating something, and not realizing its a mistake till you're half through? Yeah, that happens to me a lot...and my husbands go to lovey treat is buying me Ben and Jerrys, he's learning though.
I think I have four Cochins Roos, two blues that are getting big quick. One black Cochin that we still can't agree on male or female. As long as everyone starts laying in January we'll be able to hatch out a big group, and really baby them through the worst ages for Mareks. We've decided to totally clean out the stalls, removing all my deep litter. I want to keep the babies separate as long as possible, I don't think its a coincidence that every time we tried to integrate them with the adults, three would develop symptoms and die within two weeks, usually faster. Stress seems to be the biggest trigger.

Anyone near Pueblo have any young buff orpington or silkie hens? Im looking to add two more to my very small flock. If you want to call it that.

I just recently had four youngsters, three were for sure roos which found homes. Kept the only hen I thought I had, which was the smallest and kindest out of the flock. Yesterday, I brought home two beautiful and sweet hens for her... or so I had thought "her". "She" started crowing and when I was able to see them close together, after introducing them, my heart sank. I swear "she" developed a comb overnight.

How "lucky" was I getting four silkie roos from the same clutch?

When I hatched silkies 4 out of 4 that hatched were roos!

Trst, How is your hen? Her eye any better? Hope so!

I don't think it's worse or better. I put medicine on it again last night and will be stopping on my way home from work to see if I can find the eye cream that is recommended a lot on here.

Interesting that the stress gets them. Good luck babying the next group of young ones. Let us know how it goes!

Sounds like a plan on your Cochins! Will be interesting to see if none get sick by keeping them separate from the grown flock. Please keep us posted.

Three Bantam eggs and two eggs from my laying flock and breeders today, I think mine have turned the corner from being "free loaders"!!! lol

Some from this week....... Java's and Marans, I put a little oil on the Marans so they pop for the camera!

I also use oil, it helps the camera pick up the color. Coconut oil is my pick, since it's clear. Olive oil added a tint to my blue eggs.

I did not find any local breeders. The only people I found had bought chicks, had them shipped and were selling the hens at around 4-6 weeks old. I gave in and ordered online. I wanted a large number, so that worked for me.

I am in Centennial, CO and am looking for bantam Orphingtons and other super friendly breeds to buy as chicks this spring. I really don't want to order online because I only want to start out with two chicks and see how it goes. Friendliness is most important, followed by egg production. This will be my first time raising chickens. Please let me know if you find any promising breeders I'm Co! I'll drive anywhere if it means getting healthy chicks!
