So is anyone interested in a 9 month old Buff Orph roo, for breeding and such, no stock pot. I say that just cause we can do the stock pot, just hoping he might have a spot. He is a sweet and pretty boy (minus a bloody head) and even will take seeds from my hand. Just thought I would ask, we will be culling him tomorrow. We just haven't had the time to deal with it.

@uzisuzuki love the photo bomb, I have some rather comical chicken photos.

@ DK - congrats on the peeps and good luck.

Got photo bombed by Athena this evening while waiting for Calypso to lay her egg. I can't believe I never had chickens growing up. They crack me up so much

Uzi, how are the polish hens for laying egg? They are without a doubt adorable.

Was the screen door hard to make/install? I would like to have a few of them for each section of the coop I need to build pretty soon, but I'm not very handy. At all. It's terrible. I really need to think about signing up for FarmersOnly to find a handy boyfriend. ;)

Oh! And I don't know what breed she is, but I like that look Big Smile's is giving in that first picture! :)

It wasn't hard. Some math to figure out the lumber cuts. I used a Kreg Jig HD (heavy duty) and nails which allows you to drill pilot holes that also countersink the screws and pulls the wood together. I was a bit skeptical but after using it to build the coop, I am sold. After screwing all the pieces together, I,attached the HC with deck scews and fender washers. Purchased 2 bolt larches, one handle, a set of non-mortise hinges and a screen door spring at Home Depot. Then hung the door with the hinges. Screwed some of the osb (?), cut to the size of the bolts to raise them off the door a bit. Hammered the bolt into the door jamb to make an indentation the drilled holes a bit larger than the bolts to side into. Then attached the handle and I still have to attached the spring allowing it to close automatically. All in all, pretty easy. I find if I measure draw it out then go through each step in my head to find my mistakes before I make them, the project goes pretty easy.

Glad you used a Kreg jig. I do not have on in my arsenal of tools but like how it works. (That is why I had to use all the triangles)
Making a want it list of tools now and that one is on it.

Cute birds and chicks everyone!
I candled my eggs again, day 10ish...and two of PC eggs, that I wasn't sure about are moving, so yay!! I have 14 eggs, as of right now, that I am 100% sure I saw movement in.
After reading so much it is sad to know that odds are against these guys
