Colorado

I am so sorry. Maybe rig a heating pad up until an incubator arrives? Maybe you can PM some of the CS crew? Don't forget to turn the eggs until day 18. Fingers crossed for you....

I believe Miss Henny Penny is gone. Does anyone live in the Colorado Springs / Falcon / Peyton area that might have a incubator I could borrow. We have a hen sitting on the eggs tonight but after that I don't know what to do. Call me as early as 7 am if you might be able to help. 719-640-6668.

I have a jome made one that you can borrow. I am just south of Fountain. I will send you a pm also.

The eggs were cold this morning. The hen I hoped would sit on them last night did not come through. So, It makes the loss a bit sadder. My grandsons are having a hard time with little Henny Penny being gone but we will adjust. Thanks for all the kind words.

The craigs list add seems to have done the trick. I have sold half of the ones I needed to with one more person needing to contact me to arrange pick up/delivery.

With the young ones sold the old ladies can live out retirement. DH and DS are very against processing them. I guess they win...... this time.

Suncatcher,

HOT here HOT HOT HOT. Does it show I am envious?

Nice you got rid of your extra's!!!

Really, looks cloudy to the east of us, so just assumed the temps were lower for everyone today! I hate to say it, but it almost feels fall like, very crisp air.

I tried to add several chicks to a first time momma last night, did not go well. I thought I better check on them before I went to bed, found the babies were all by themselves in the corner...... so back in the brooder they went. Should have known, she tried peck them as I was putting them under her, but I usually protect them with the back of my hand, I am not even sure she could see them, as was dark, but I did have a flashlight with me. Will try again tonight.

My bantam did the same thing when I tried to give her some chicks. NOT good at all. Into the brooder and now sold. Poor little dears.

I even tried to make sure I got the same color chicks as she would normally have.

We are sitting at 95 degrees here. At least that is how hot it was in the plant today. (I brought the thermometer from my chicken coop cause I am sick of roasting) YUP looked it up and we be 95. BLECH.
LOL gonna be fun chasing chickens in a few minutes.
Thinking I will bring the net. Easier on all of us.

I ended up bringing the PR back home. The purchaser could not make up their mind on when to bring them to her and from what I could tell knew little if anything about chickens.

I was not about to sit in the hot car another hour with overheating pullets waiting for someone to make their mind up.
