About all you can do is what you are already doing. Time will tell now. Dipping her feet will help cool her. I would still not do it to often.

and a lot of healing thoughts for you and her.

I tossed my broody into the other coop to stop her in this heat. Nothing else would make her leave the nest. Mine had been sitting for almost 6 weeks and there is NO rooster. I am hoping yours was not on fertile eggs.

She has been sitting on fertile eggs. It's warm in the coop right not. We're hoping we can move another chicken to the nest after dark in hopes that that will keep them warm. If she revives, maybe we can move her inside with her eggs and with food and water close. Where it's cooler. At this point time will tell.

You can give her some very slightly warm honey given with a dropper every couple hours. It is a natural restorative.....good luck. Also give her fresh cold water, even with some ice, hot birds drink more water if it is cold.

Wow that is some progress on reducing the roosters.

She is a pretty hen. If only I could have been patient and waited for more chickens. * sigh *

I am sure someone will be contacting you for her.

I am fixing to make a small coop out of the leftover pieces from the huge coop for the Polish. Is there anything that I should know about housing them for the winter? Not sure if they are "special needs" chickens.

Thanks, yep, they are a very pretty bird! Hmmm, I would insulate, but that is just me, helps with the heat and the cold, I have two insulated, and one not, I never have frozen combs in the insulated coops.

Quote: INCREDIBLY hot here too, hate it!!!!

She and her flock mates are hatchery too, they probably all trace back to GFF, as I think they are the only ones who have imported Barnenevlers into the US. I am not sure if they were still here in the US before their importation. All Banies will have yellow legs and feet. Will see if I can get a picture of the whole group. They should also have the U shape to the back.

Funny how one little cockerel or rooster can change the whole flock dynamics!

Her comb is pinker. I have her indoors. Wrapped in a cool washcloth that I recool every 20 minutes or so. Putting a few drops of electrolyte mix in her beak every 15 minutes or so. She responds when I put her in cool water but I want to totally stress her out by putting her in the cool water too often. Any thoughts anyone?

Yep, agree on dipping her legs in cool/cold water if it is heat stroke, I have heard this works best.

Well I put the ad on Craigs for my extra chickens. I have gotten interest in the partridge rocks. I am delivering 3 of them to Fort Collins tomorrow evening. I will be bringing hubby with me.

I got the chickens moved around so the older smaller group is in the smaller section of the coop. No one is happy with me right now lol. Itty Bitty the bantam cochin is quite the terror to the pullets. Funny watching a Brahma run from a bantam. HOWEVER the pullets all laid in the nest boxes today. NICE! I am calling that a win.

So far all of Victoria's eggs have been double yolkers. Poor girl.

I added 2 box fans to the coop today as well. WAY to hot in there. I had sweat pouring down my face in the short time it took to make platforms for the fans and get them secured.
I do worry about the dust killing the fans so I aimed them inward. They are drawing outside air and pushing it through the coop. I set them high enough that the hens can be below and not in the direct path of the air while on the roosts.

I think I will be buying some watermelon tomorrow. This heat is awful. The humidity in the coop was at 50% while I was out there.

I believe Miss Henny Penny is gone. Does anyone live in the Colorado Springs / Falcon / Peyton area that might have a incubator I could borrow. We have a hen sitting on the eggs tonight but after that I don't know what to do. Call me as early as 7 am if you might be able to help.
