What a day.... :(

But I'm finally home...and can relax. OMG!!!

On a happier note, mostly cloudy here. Rain knocked off at sometime around mid morning. So the girls got to run around in the yard....no one is soaking wet....and they all came running to greet me when I stepped out into the yard this afternoon.

Isn't it amazing how something so simple as a flock of birds running to greet you can change your whole day?

My sentiments exactly! These birds NEVER disappoint. (Best kept secret in the world)

So we have a serious rat problem in Boulder, we have been watching our feed disappear at alarming rates. Like 75 # of feed between 4 birds gone in a week! So we ordered a Treadle feeder which comes tomorrow. We are across from an open space and out in a rural area zoned for Ag and residential so there are other farm animals in the area. We have had mice issues continually but now this.

Here is a shot of the feeder, it has a counter weight so the rats shouldn't be able to open the feeder nor should they be able to chew through it as it's metal. We will have to set up some rat traps, maybe the water ones when we switch over feeders.

Ordered from this website, we picked this one based on the 5 star reviews from customers. Most of which either had a rat, mice or wild bird problem, all of which were resolved, so I am hopeful.

Anyone else have experience in rat mitigation?

I hope I dontvhave to put up with that. Is it going to be hard to train the chickens to get food out. Have you researched how to get them to eat from it

There's a big yellow thing up in the sky!! and it's "WARM" again... or at least it feels that way! I know it was only rainy for a couple of days, but it seems it's been "gray" for the better part of a week... Not complaining too much, the water is always welcome!

Not rat but I have had a serious field mouse problem this spring that is driving me nuts. The peahens have only killed a couple at most & I'm trying to figure out the best way to try to trap them all without the birds getting into them. I would love to hear what you think of this feeder because I wasn't sure which brand to go with to try to slow my pest issues.
