Yeah... and we haven't hit August yet

Not good...

Has anyone had to deal with people stealing their chickens? I remember one person dealt with people stealing eggs, but I couldn't remember if any birds had been stolen. Asking because we had people in our yard trying to steal rabbits from us on Tuesday & the same people have been driving by our house multiple times a night this weekend (they aren't the brightest of thieves as they live down the street from us). Just wondering if anyone has had to deal with human break ins of their coops/pens.

Thank you.

A halfway decent trail cam mounted in an inconspicuious are would erese all doubt from the police's questions. A picture is worth a thousand words kind of thing
I can think of a few traps and snares that would work also. Probably shouldnt do that though. You moght hurt their feeling.
Police report and a picture. Yup. Yup. Yup

Thank you for all the tips, everyone. Apparently, the issue got taken care of and we don't need to involve the police anymore.

Sorry about the late response - this kinda got put on the backburner as I had to euthanise one of my original Polish hens yesterday morning and then almost had to do the same to another of the Polish hens that same evening. I'm pretty broke up about it since she was my favourite and because of the reason she had to be euthanise. I'm kinda feeling like I am not capable of taking care of this flock because of my TBI and the issues it presents for me. I just feel like I should have caught this issue sooner and she shouldn't have had to die.

seriously the whole state is on fire :-( hoping for the best for anyone who has to evacuate!

38,000 acres...8 homes destroyed. There was a story of a firefighter that let his house burn so that he could help a neighbor save their home. He lost everything, that is an amazing sacrifice to make for another....

My prayers go out to my fellow Coloradoans that are dealing with this season's wildfires.

If you believe that, then you and those birds where always meant to meet and those birds have been sent to you as a blessing and for a vessel of healing. That string can never be broken, don't focus on their death but rather focus on their beautiful lives and what joy they brought to you everyday. The lesson will come and the healing is already going on, if you didn't have those birds you might be having a pity party sitting inside instead of connecting with nature/source. :D Continue to tap in and healing will come, be patient.
