Thank you for all the tips, everyone. Apparently, the issue got taken care of and we don't need to involve the police anymore.

Sorry about the late response - this kinda got put on the backburner as I had to euthanise one of my original Polish hens yesterday morning and then almost had to do the same to another of the Polish hens that same evening. I'm pretty broke up about it since she was my favourite and because of the reason she had to be euthanise. I'm kinda feeling like I am not capable of taking care of this flock because of my TBI and the issues it presents for me. I just feel like I should have caught this issue sooner and she shouldn't have had to die.
Do not beat up on yourself, you are a fine person just as you are, and you love your animals, and as a wise old person once said **** happens, move on.

I lived in the Springs during the Waldo Canyon Fire and remember standing in my front yard getting ashes blown in my face and not being able to breathe from the smoke. It was not a good experience. My heart goes out to these people now involved.

Nothing to do with chickens, but has anyone been having problems with their credit card info being skimmed/stolen? It happened to me back mid May, and it just happened again. I went over my bill before each time and there is no common place for both incidents. The last one my card was used in CA. This time it was used in GA. It's really pissing me off. I pay the card down every month and then purchase everything with it and I need chicken feed. I won't have a replacement card till the end of the week. They'll remove the charges after they post and I go online and file the claim of fraud, but it's such a royal PITA. I really despise thieves... Maybe there's something to be said for dealing strictly in cash. Grrrrr

That one was scary for sure, and I only saw the pictures. Right on the heels of High Park, right? That one was a lot closer to home for me.

@Latestarter That is the worst! I had fraudulent charges several years back when the theater in Centerra got hacked, and again early this year, not from anywhere I could trace this time. Love my credit union though, they can print me a new card in store the same day. I'd stay with them for that feature alone over the big banks.

Some years ago we were contacted by our credit card company. They were a bit concerned why we were spending so much money in South Africa. Couple days later there was a news announcement that Target had been hacked.

Our credit card company is USAA and they are very vigilant in sniffing out fraudulent charges. Usually my Hubs will get an email or text within minutes of something fishy going through. The last two, whoever scammed the card made a very small purchase (under a dollar) to see if it went through. Those always raise a red flag. I was caught in the Target thing, too, and gladly took the one year security coverage they offered for free.

My CU is Navy Federal. Been with them many, many years. This time they did major charges as well as mini charges... Last time was just multiple "regular" sized charges. This time was 2 charges totaling $178, both to the same biz in GA. I then got texted by my CU that there was suspicious activity. I texted back that the charge was not done by me and they called me within 10 minutes. Turns out there was another charge being submitted for 30 cents while we were talking. That got declined but the other two had already been posted... too late. Whoever is skimming is obviously selling the data to multiple buyers and the fastest one to use it gets through while those who wait or do the mini test runs lose out.

I asked if there was any way they could simply block any/all charges that show up that are NOT from my regular use spots. They said they can't do that as VISA won't allow it. I wish I could find out who was doing the skimming and where... there'd be hell to pay!

We are further challenged by the fact that my husband travels and occasionally will use our card instead of his company AE. That's always fun. Also when we go on vacation. You'd think after a charge for a ride from the airport, checking in to a hotel and a couple of meals, they'd figure it out. Better safe than sorry, I suppose. Have you heard about the latest scam that involves ATMs? The thief has a heat sensor that can tell what keys you use to punch in your PIN. Depending on how much return they get on the heat sensor they can even tell what order you punch in the numbers. The quick fix to that is to touch other keys before or after your PIN. Just use a light touch to leave a heat print, but too many numbers to tell your PIN, Crazy, huh?
