Nora: I second that. She looks sooo miserable, waddling to try to be the first to get to grain but she always ends up last. The buck and wether usually push their way through first, then the doeling who is also due within the next 3 weeks, and then CC brings up the rear. Of course, she IS walking for 4 or 5!

Goat gestation is 150 days: 21 weeks plus 3 days ... give or take a few.

Not sure about that wax up thing ... don't know what that means. This is our first time we've experienced kidding. We got the doeling and her twin, the wether, when they were babies last spring, so she just turned 1 year old. We got her older sister, CC, in the summer after her 4 kids were weaned. And we just got the buck a few months ago. We're just kinda fumbling along.

We had a goat in milk last summer. A nubian. She was mean to the other goats so when she started to dry up, we sold her. Loved having the milk. Still have one or two more quart bags in the freezer.

@ MyKidLuvsGreenEgz and ghillie

Noticed the last two days that Humphrey makes the weirdest noise when I go out and throw some scratch to them. It's not really scratch but the feed mixture I feed them. I can't explain it other than it is like a sort of clucking but loud! I was on phone with a friend yesterday when he did it and she asked me what that weird noise was. She could hear him doing it! He is too cute! I love him and glad he is here. Provided that he doesn't go all psycho all of a sudden I think he will be very happy here!

A mares teets will gets a waxy type substance on the ends before she goes in to labor. Just didn't know if it happens with goats too. I haven't had goats milk since I was little but I want to start making my own goats milk soap. I love it!

On another note:

I have figured out the sex of my ducks finally. I have 4 boys and 1 girl.

I have 2 blue swedish drakes and 2 Pekin drakes and just 1 blue swedish girl. Sooooo I lucked out and found 2 blue swedish ducklings that I think are girls so that will help.

I would like to rehome the 2 Pekin Drakes if anyone would be interested. They are big and are 9 weeks old. They would be great for pets, flock daddys, or for eating too. PM me if interested.
