Everyone who was going to hatch, did. It was an amazing experiance for both the kids and myself. The little Ayam chick is like a baby song bird. She wants to be snuggled and held. The one I helped hatch is just fine. She had spraddle leg but I fixed her up with her wrap and she is totally normal now.

All four of my chicks are doing great, even the one I helped hatch. My silkie, Hatchimal Collectable, injured her leg. I think it might be broke, so I wrapped it with vet wrap and she has been hanging out with the chicks. She is very gentle with them and doesn't peck them at all. I don't think she will mother them as she isn't even laying yet, but they treat her like a mom anyway. It's so cute. She is my toddlers favorite chicken, so I hope she recovers. I don't know what happened to her leg.

Just want to post a huge shout-out to those who have been willing and kind enough to let me into their coops over this past week. I've learned more than I ever could have online and I can't over-emphasize how appreciative I am. I don't wanna do a "shout-out" cause I feel like that might make things "bawk"-ward. But... This has been the best week ever for me and it's all because of the kindness and openness of (what were) total strangers. I like to think new friends!!

Chicken-people are the best people! Hands down. Game over. Period.

I can't wait to "lean" on all of you once I get my own flock. Keep being awesome, peeps!

P.S. I mean both human and chicken "peeps". :D

It's been a pretty crazy week. I gave 5 chicks to a broody hen. Unfortunately she killed 2 and hurt another so bad I had to euthanize it. She abandoned the last 2 and went to another nest box. I ended up putting her in broody jail. I think I've gotten Zoe to take the last 2 but they have a bit of trouble keeping up to her and the older chicks.

The biggest event was that my doe went into labor way early and had a discharge that was a concerning color. So of course I was internally freaking out all day last Monday and stayed home from work. She gave birth Monday night, one preemie kid and one dead one. :( It had been dead a while but luckily the vet said mom goat was not in danger of infection. The live kid was extremely weak and it took me a long time to get her to eat. That was followed by very few hours of sleep for me for the next few days, forced syringed feedings, a bacterial infection, driving 1.5 hours to get meds, and several times I thought she wouldn't make it. But this little lady is a fighter and made it, thank goodness.

For the last couple days she is gaining weight and running around a bit. She even comes to me and tries to climb in my lap for cuddles, which I oblige. :love I'm thinking of naming her Adelind. It means noble serpent (i.e. dragon). Both her and her mom have a marking in the same spot that looks like a dragon head to me. Plus she's a feisty little lady.

Oh my isn't that lil kid precious! I'm sorry you had such a rough first birthing. It sounds like mama and the preemie are going to pull through though, good job! :hugs I hope you can finally sleep some now.

Hello Colorful Colorado Peeps! I live in Pueblo. My question might seem like an odd one, but I am looking for landowners that would be ok with hunting on their property. Mainly I'm looking to go Antelope hunting. When I was a kid my family would find people that owned land and make trades with them to allow us to hunt on their property. Then I grew up and had children and stopped hunting for a long time. Recently me and my husband have started hunting again and my family no longer has connections, so I thought I would try to make my own. Not sure this was the right place to ask or even if I worded it right, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thank you!

@PirateGirl Yes, I think she will be fine. She and mom are actually outside with the other two now. It was not a fun way to experience my first goat labor but now I feel like I could handle it if things get bad. I learned a lot about both what to do and what not to do. I wouldn't want to do it again this way but it was a good learning experience.

@Lady Lionheart Welcome to the CO thread and :welcome. I haven't got the game or land to go hunting on. The only thing you could get would be skunks and rabbits. :bun Maybe you can ask at feed or small hunting specialty stores. They may know people who offer that kind of thing. Maybe there are local FB groups for hunting. I don't know; I'm just tossing stuff out there. :idunno Good luck.
