Ah yes I remember now. I know someone who was looking for a rooster I'll ask her what she was needing him for. I'll let you know. They are mixed. One is half RIR and half Orphington and the other is RIR and leghorn.

My older chickens just did not like alfalfa and I hadn't tried it yet with my younger ones.Ah yes I remember now. I know someone who was looking for a rooster I'll ask her what she was needing him for. I'll let you know.

I know how silly it seems for 7 backyard hens, and I don't even know if I can say exactly why I want to maintain it, except the hope in the back of my mind that some day I will have eggs and chicks to sell. Marans are on my list of breeds I think I would like to have, along with Russian Orloffs, possibly Aracaunas and more Sussex, maybe Javas, and maybe Swedish Flower Chickens. I have been trying to glean information where I can about these breeds, and each seems to have much to recommend it and one or two things that might give one pause. If I decide to acquire any of them, I will probably build individual accommodations for each breed in order to retain purity in order to sell purebred chicks. I am most interested in determining which do best in our climate, and I think the list above includes breeds which all do well here.
Those who like to forage may have little to forage on during the hottest months of summer, do yours seem to manage well during July and August and into September?A little late now or I'd have invited you over to my place as I live in Falcon. I get my 20% feed from Bartlett's, 14.95$. They are on Meridian Road. I'm not sure where you are in Denver but take Briargate over to Powers. 2hours seems a little long to get here unless you are way north.
I use milk instead of waterTo those of you who can, I am making chicken cheese soup with Velveeta, It is probably 60 % water and 40% Velveeta when finished. Does anyone have any experience dealing with canning cheese soups or at least know if this will work?
I have heard bad things about canning milk but I can't find anything solid, that is why I am worried about the Velveeta. Have you had success with canning milk?I use milk instead of water
