I just sent an email asking him to confirm he still has Bantam Wheaton Ameraucanas, if I don't hear from him via email I'll call him Monday - or you can call if you want, they take calls from 5-7 pm our time, 507-451-6782. Doesn't say M-F so I assume weekends too, I just know I won't have time this weekend.

Judi
I can't call this weekend either. Let me know if you hear from him about the wheatons.

We are confirmed with Tony Albritton, 25 SS and 15 Narragansetts, to ship in April. Total shipping is $50, $25 for each box, so the turkeys with shipping are $11.67 each ($10 each x 15 = $150 + $25 shipping = $175 / 15). So excited!

We have a couple of inches of snow as well, I opened the pop door, 2 SS put feet on the ramp, looked around in awe, and said, "I'm not going out there!" They are now inside taking turns peering out the door :) I will give them a little while to work up their courage.

We have about two inches here. I didn't bother letting out the little girls; Summer and Pidge don't like snow to begin with and I don't want to give the silkies a chance to be stupid. The big girls didn't even step onto their ramp! :lol: They just gave me the 'you are CRAZY if you think we are going out in THAT!' look. Everyone got some fresh, warm water and a plate of oatmeal with banana slices. So everyone is happy. :)

I hope everyone gets new jobs soon. :(. It's sad to think about how many people have lost or are loosing their jobs. I wish I still had my connections over in the Carson contracting office but everyone I used to work with has transferred, retired or been cut. :/

UGood morning. We are south of the Springs and got 1-2 inches My girls arent going out so I think I will shut their door. Inside is nice and toasty but the coop is better built than our house. Maybe they can have a "hen " party and figure out those nest boxes and golf balls.

Oh bummer, Mayah! Bob was laid off all of 2011, and finally got hired in January of this year. He had no warning and spent the first few months trying to get over the shock. He took this job in Trinidad, they started him at the same rate he'd been laid off at, he commutes about 150 miles round trip every day, and says the same as you, it is a job. He's at that age where it's really tough to get hired, his job is physically demanding (heavy equipment mechanic) and despite the fact he's never had a work-related injury, potential employers view him as more of a risk than a younger mechanic with far less (sometimes no) experience.

At any rate, I'm no resume expert, but I can write a little, and anything I can do to help anyone needing a refreshed resume, I'm more than happy to help, even if you just want to send it to me for proofreading. Having looked at quite a few resumes over the last several years, I can tell you employers want to know what skills you have, in the case of office jobs what software you have experience with, sometimes what customer service, accounting, or cashiering experience - you would be amazed at the number of people who can't make change - and in the case of health care, special skills such as cardiac monitoring, surgical prep, neonatal intensive care, etc. I had a friend many years ago who moved from NY to CA to take a job in a neonatal intensive care unit, because they paid him an outrageous amount of money based on his previous experience in a similar unit coupled with two years in the coronary care unit. For those in the trades, list equipment you have used or repaired, classes you've taken, any special licensing like A/C, etc.

I'm sure you all know that, just a reminder list.

There are so many things that I just take for granted people assume I know. How can someone not know software? I grew up in a time when 2400 bps was fast. :) I just flub out on interviews. If they were done with me showing someone how to do something, I'd pass but I get so nervous. I'm not sure how the interview went. But I'll just keep looking until I find something.

The wind is wicked strong out here. I'm glad all of my roosters get along and that my flock, even with the different sizes and ages, etc... all get along or today would be hell. I went out about a half hour ago and the temp. in their house is about 36 and the water hasn't frozen.

Let us know what the costs are so I can get the check or do you do paypal now, rather than later. :)

Chesterhook,
I may be able to offer a home for your Red Stars, I lost 2 of my chicks over the summer I'd allotted for 6 all together. We are adding Turkeys in the spring, but we are adding a second coop and a large run, LMK if you decide to rehome.

Will do, you're in the front range area?

I feel for all those who have been laid off and are having a rough time.

X2, reminds me to be grateful for the job I've got, even if it's in ND

Lol... I keep telling my son that if worse comes to worse, I'll take the camper and go to ND. His eyes light up, envisioning the man cave that will become our home. :)

Yes, I do paypal, or you can send a check, whatever you prefer. My email address is [email protected] ('cause I spend so much time trying to figure out how to garden in this dry climate LOL).

For the turkeys:
4 = $46.67
5 = $58.33
6 = $70.00
----------------
15 = $175.00

If you want to send a check let me know and I'll PM my mailing address. Again, this is not a rush, Tony will reserve our birds as long as we pay him before shipping.

Duane will not reserve until we send him a check, so that's the order we have to nail down, and I will try calling Monday at 5 to confirm the Bantam Wheaton Ameraucanas and then we can get it completed. Right now that order looks like this:

LF:
12 Black Giants
4 Ameraucana
4 Welsummer
4 Naked Necks
10 Leghorns (or 11, or whatever number I need to make up the total of 50 depending on the final number of Bantams)

Bantams:
8 Wheaton Ameraucana for Megshenhut
? 7 Wheaton Ameraucana and Bearded Mille Fleur for maggiemo
? a few Bantams for Coloradogal

Once I get confirmation on availability of the Bantam Wheaton Ameraucanas we should be able to get this one done, and since we are not getting turkeys from Duane we can once again try to pick a delivery time - last I recall April was popular, if you all want March instead I will indicate that on the order. To a large extent it will depend on when he will have these birds all available, and I will also let him know he can split into two deliveries if he needs to.

The other thing I should point out is that once we get our orders, if we decide we want to try another I can always recontact these gentlemen and ask if they have more chicks. I will get a couple of orders of pullets from McMurray to start and resell, and if anyone wants day olds for laying flocks just say the word, I am more than happy to part with them at my cost the day I pick them up. Once I start them they will be more, only because I will have higher costs. My goal is to begin hatching my own eggs in the next couple of years. I'm also thinking about getting a couple of mature Silkie hens to hatch a few this year. I've been in contact with an NPIP breeder who has a couple she will sell me, but of course the cost of shipping is forcing me to really think it through before I commit.

Oh - and now we have about 4" of snow blowing sideways. Girls had come out and huddled against the west side of the house out of the wind. I put them all back in, with food and water, and closed up the doors, they are nice and toasty and out of the wind, with plenty of room.
