So I found out something interesting. Valley Pets sells straight run chicks for $0.99. The owner told me that they were 'straight run males'. Now I have never heard of that term so I tried to tell him that straight run meant they are unsexed but he was sure they were male and he was also sure they are straight run..lol. He does not know the breed/s. he then went on to tell me a lengthy story about how the GI's coming back from Iraq like to buy them by the dozen and feed them to his giant lizard... To make a long story short, it would be interesting to find out what these "feeder chicks" are.

So ... we have another 1"+ on the pad for the shed, and still no shed. I was assured it would be delivered by 4 today, then shortly thereafter received a call about misplacement of doors and assurance it would be corrected prior to delivery. It is not here. I made sure to be here as soon as I could this afternoon to verify correct configuration, to no avail. By this time tomorrow if I don't have it here I guess I will have to file complaints and begin the literal scramble to have a structure in place. At this point I have to say even if it arrives beyond perfection there is no way I would recommend this seller to anyone who cared about timely service. I am well past disappointment and into anger.

Wendell, sorry I didn't get there today, as you note above I thought I had to be here to receive a shed kit. Fourth day in a row I have cancelled/put on hold other things I had to do, to wait for no shed. By now we could have built one from lumber. This not only not a time saver, it is a time waster. Grrr.
Did you pay in advance? If so, can you put a stop payment on the check? There are quite a few shed companies out there, I am sure you could get quality service from them.....

Wow... that's cruel. So they buy these chicks and feed them to his lizard? How truly ghastly.

Man that sucks! Don't worry about the chicks, they're having a good time here. The zoomies started last night. :)

Temps are much more stable. Still a slight variance but I'm not sure if a water heater thermostat can get much better then +-0.3 degrees. I'm running 99.3-99.8 degrees. I replaced the thermostat, drilled a bunch of holes in it to allow air to reach the wafer faster. I also used some epoxy putty to fasten the light sockets. It worked MUCH better then the RTV. I drilled one 1/2" hole on the intake side of the cooler as well as one 5/8" hole on the outlet side. I also added 12 baby food jars full of water to represent the thermal mass of a dozen eggs. I am going to let it run all night and check it in the morning. Here are a few pictures. I neatened up the wires on the back by putting them in a junction box as well as putting an outlet on the back to plug the fan into.

That conversation should tell you everything you need to know about that establishment.

http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/Favaucana-B152.aspx yes. It says its a my pet chicken exclusive....but its said that for at least 18 months now. lol

Huh. Seems like anyone with Araucanas/Ameraucanas and Faverolles could make the same cross, couldn't they? Has anyone here ever had Faverolles? Their description is of a chicken likely to be picked on by flockmates and I'm wondering whether that has been the experience of those who have had them. I get why the cross could be a good one, just curious whether their description of the Faverolle is consistent with others'.
