Colorado

I have a home made pvc pipe feeder set up. It works great. I will post up some pics this evening if you would like. I went from the chickens wasting a lot of food to them wasting very little.

I'm excited to see your setup. Please post some pictures. THANKS!

That is so sad - how is your little survivor doing?
He is doing great! I don't understand the aggression, but he is super healthy and likes to be held now. Loves worms and wheat grass too! Not sure he won't eat anything! LOL

I have between 7-11(fingers crossed) developing and should hatch Saturday into Sunday. Got the brooder all cleaned out and Lucky moved out to the farm already. Be a while before he can get with the gang, but really happy with him!(He better be a him!)

i am trying to make a flock with dual purpose so these are the breeds we have disided on: new Hampshire, SLW, cuckoo marans, araucana/americana, gold star, production red, and a plymouth rock. i plan to use them for eggs for the moment. but i want the ability to switch when we need to so I am looking for good size in the birds but they have to be good layers. are there any pros or cons with any of these breeds?

I love my EEs but they can be temperamental layers, especially hatchery stock. If you don't buy from a reputable breeder your Americana / Araucana will likely be EEs. I love their personalities though! Mine are very curious and personable gals.

Chickenfest 2013 update:

I am looking for one of those water balloon launching things that use surgical tubing... I need one to modify and use for rubber chicken launching...... Don't want too much range on it...

here in Boulder County, there are bicycle inner tubes along various roads...., and I bet you could make a launchy thing fairly easy!

I'm expecting chicks this weekend! I found someone on craigslist in Black Forest selling them. Looks like maybe there were buying hatching eggs and then selling the chicks? I can't remember the name of the farm though. Anyone familiar with them?

Now to get the coop built
