I saw chicks at our Big R in Conifer- same picture!! I like the idea of knowing what im getting rather than mystery chick! they have a poster at the counter, and they may circle what they are getting, but they dont know what is in their orders... I think i may make an excursion to Elizabeth this weekend!!

Brought my Brahma in tonight. I got a look at her butt and decided she needed a bath. So she's inside and I just deloused/dewormed her. I do it after the bath and the creepies I get is just plain gross. I will say it again, delousing/deworming is best done outside, in spring. But i refuse to have one in the house without treatment.

Her poo doesn't look bloody or runny so am assuming her feathers are just too long in the back. I feel a little negligent as I should have noticed her butt before tonight. She has just a little redness. So I put some iodine creme on her bum, gave her some probiotic chicken starter with some lettuce and she's resting in the spare bathtub. Bathtubs are just so much easier to clean.

Soooo, does anyone have any Brahma back feather advice. I am thinking of cutting some of her back feathers but its winter. What would you guys do. Leave them long and just monitor her butt or cut.

Another thing... I did not see any evidence of lice/mite infestation. So is my assumption is the redness is from the nitrogen in the poo sitting too close to the body while nesting and roosting. Does that sound right?

I will be picking up 6 eggs very soon and will be hatching......
