Colorado

I eggtopsied 6 eggs. Two looked like they died just before lockdown, one was damp with a little loose fluid and the other was dry. The other four were fully developed, moist but not damp, two had even internally pipped. One internal pipper had a severe scissor beak. It never would have survived even if it had managed to hatch.

Adam and Chick, what did your eggtopcies show with the ones that didn't hatch?    That is interesting about the 10 day higher CO2 idea.

Honestly I didn't have the heart to crack em open and see. I'm fairly certain that the temperature was too high as I did have a chick hatch on day 19 and the other two that hatched hatched on day 20. Also they all were the furthest from the heat source. I think if I was to use the homemade cooler bator again I would have to buy a wafer thermostat for it as the hot water heater thermostat just had too many temp swings.

I had read plenty about air exchange but this is the first I've heard of the 10 day higher co2 thing. I don't think I would try it personally. At least not now . Last thing I need to do is add another variable. I am thinking that with my new gqf sportsman my hatch rate is going to be much much better. The temp is absolutely rock solid. It doesn't even vary .1 degrees. I also did a poor job of turning last time as I always forgot. My gqf has auto turners now too :)

The only thing I am thinking I will have difficulty with my new gqf is the lack of a viewing window for hatch time. I am going to have to keep the bator closed till around day 22-23 to make sure I don't open and shrink wrap any chicks... Samsr had an idea of putting a webcam in there, I may do this still. Ill have to find one with a built in light. After this hatch I will be cutting a window in.

I had one from two hatches ago with cross beak. Somehow, it's still growing. I call it beaker.

I know.  It's absolutely mind boggling.

I have a feeling that the system automatically scans new posts for keywords and then a mod dictates on a per case basis as to what is going on. Just a case of mistaken identity as they didn't see the whole picture just a bit of it.. More funny than anything.

As to them removing links.. Yeah thats dumb. It may have to do with the fact that they have paid sponsors and the sponsors request they do that.

I agree that the buy/sell/trade section is totally useless for locals.. It would be too hard to weed through the posts.. And honestly, who would even check that regularly. It is much easier to just read our CO thread.. And it keeps our thread more active.

Maybe if they had the buy/sell/trade separated for locals it would be easier to use..

This one was so bad I think the skull was deformed too. The base wasn't even overlapping completely. Hope your Beaker keeps going strong.
