Mail isn't delivered on Sunday but the Post Office is open. You just go to the back door, there is a buzzer. I have picked up mail on Christmas morning, and in the middle of the night, Sundays....they are open and you can pick up chicks on Sunday. Promise.

I was at Murdoch's this morning and they hadn't gotten their chicks in yet either. Actually, they said they usually get them after 10pm Saturday, but they didn't last night.

What store were you calling?

I might have seen you there, I went this morning to buy some babies to go with my brand new babies from Shy. Thankfully they had some little BOs there.

That's great you were ok with the BO. Were they a week old?
I really wanted some Marans, and if I didn't get any Marans I needed a day or two old. I wanted to put them under my broody who already had 3 chicks.

Who were you? I am a short blond. My husband had two black and white dogs.

Can anyone spare a couple fertilized eggs?? I live in Franktown but am willing to make a little road trip. Thanks in advance

So I had my first 2 cases of pasty butt. Both of the cuckoo Marans. All 9 of the other chicks are fine. I feel bad as I didn't notice it yesterday but when I checked this morning it was really caked on there.. It was incredibly difficult to remove. I dipped their butts in warm water and got most of it off, not all but most.

I went and bought yogurt and raw acv. Holy cow does that acv smell horrible!! I mixed it with their water. I also made a mixture of yogurt and crumbles. They haven't tried it yet but I assume they will eventually.

I also bought a smaller feeder tray to make some mash out of the crumbles. I am hoping they don't waste as much and maybe it will help with the pasty butt too.
I give baths to my worst cases. For the bath I use a regular size gladware. Fill with nice, warm water to just above but height and let them stand in it for five minutes or so. The poop just starts falling off. The chick may or may not freak out a bit but so long as you're their keeping an eye on them they will be fine. Then a gentle pat dry with a wash cloth or paper towel and a little olive oil under the vent and they are ready to go back to the brooder.

Ok, today is day 7 I candled with pretty good results. I had 11/12 with definite veining. 1 was clear. I am leaving just in case I will recheck it on day 10 and pull of I see no development.

I have a few here in Fountain Colorado, but that would be quite the road trip for you. Someone here will more than likely post up that are a little closer to you. Mine are mutts as well.
