Agree. The 4s are the absolute worst state in the existence of child rearing.

Amen Sister! I also found that for me, hatching in the **** egg cartons do too if they can't move around very well. The little guy with the splay leg is now as normal as the others.

I have noticed that I do tend to have quite a few of my posts with some degree of potty language edited out. I swear, I really don't cuss that much.

Don't tell me that! I have another boy due in two months! He will be hitting two right as DS hits four!

Been there , done that! I would say it was one of the most challenging times in my life. Then I had two more boys, so it obviously didn't kill me. As I say on my horse pack trips, if you are still here to complain about it, you are doing just fine!

I put down paper towels over the newspaper and they do seem happier!! Thanks for the info!

On another note, I was in there looking at them, holding them, thinking... this red light bulb sure isn't very red.... And then I left that room and everything looked like it was the wrong color!! So, I'm guessing that bulb will be just fiiiiiiine.

So my second to last batch of chicks had the two pure white chicks. They feathered out to ivory white and they have green legs. Now I know, know they hatched from a marans egg. How in the heck did that happen? I have cuckoo marans and my black marans roo.. I don't get how the genetics is even possible. I know which egg they came out of.

It makes no sense, whatsoever. The birds are beautiful though, even being so young. Let me see if I can find the cable for my camera to upload them. They are pure white with green legs but so far, more stately than a white leghorn. I have decided that if I could get a flock that looked like them, and they lay pretty eggs...I'd be happy because their feathers are whispyish. They really are gorgeous chicks. Right now my first generation tend to either be all grey, barred pattern, all black or all white from my LF. The greys are beautiful but so far, the barred maran mixes have the sweetest disposition.

I can't think of all the breeds that have green legs, and I'm unfamiliar with the breeds that went into development of the Marans, but I guess those are the two lines of investigation I'd start with. I can't wait to see pics!

First of all I hope you know how funny that last sentence is LOL!

Second, I cuss at least that much in real life, and have to be careful when I am just typing what I'm thinking I guess between having 3 brothers growing up, and spending the majority of my working life in male-dominated industries, it's just become part of normal speech for me. I try to mind my manners when I'm around those who are offended by it, of course.

My weekend was crazy, too!  And to top it all off... I had insomnia on the two nights a week I get to sleep in!!  I'm thinking it must have been the busy weekend interrupting my sleep!

You had one heck of a weekend, my goodness! 5 was pretty cool for my son, in fact except 4 and then around 13-ish, he was a gem, I have to say.
