If you would like, we could hatch out some of my eggs for chick prizes. Adam7 hatched out some of mine a couple of weeks ago and had a 75% hatch rate. They would be crosses and we would need a wiling participant with a bator to hatch them however.
That would be great! Mine should be full then, I have some coming in about a week of two.

See, I am NOT losing it. I noticed the BYC friend badge too this am and I thought to myself ...,"How cool! Congrats!" And then I started wondering how come I had missed it before and chastized myself for not noticing earlier...... duh, kinda hard to notice when it just appeared. Phew! Congrats again!

So on the 'bator subject, I have eggs due on the weekend of April 13th. And then my bator will be free for use if anyone wants.....
I can incubate up here, but the Spring power outages can be dicey so I would rather pawn the bator off on someone with a more stable grid or at least shorter power outages. Genesis 1588

I can help with the Mountain Mutt eggs as well....... I also have some of Mayah's mixes that are laying and fertile. I have not hatched out any of these eggs yet though, but they are a pretty dark brown color.

I will see if adam7 will be available to hatch some out for us. Looks like 26 april would be the latest set date for the eggs just to be sure. How many do you think we would need? About 18 to 24 chicks?

Mountain mutts. I like that name. I guess mine could be called Fountain Creek mutts.
I will let you know if i need to borrow the bator or not. Thanks

Fantastic! Thanks WS. I will pass this on to my chicken friends that aren't on BYC.
I will be there. I don't believe I will be selling anything but if I change my mind is there a cut off date for notification?
Cheers

ChickenFest 2013 Rules and Guidelines
Rules pertaining to chickens being displayed or sold:
 1. All poultry brought onto Windy Ridge Dominiques must be caged or in crates at all times
 2. Hands must be washed or sanitized between handling birds from different flocks
 3. No sick or injured birds will be accepted
 4. Please display on the cage the breed, gender, age, breeder/owner, and price as applicable. Breed info is a good idea as well.
 5. Please provide water and feed containers for your chickens in their cages or crates.
 6. No poultry other than Windy Ridge Dominiques poultry will be left on the site when ChickenFest 2013 is done.
 7. It would be a good idea to bring boxes or crates that can go home with potential chicken buyers. Be sure boxes or crates have adequate bedding and ventilation as necessary.
 8. All sales, applicable taxes, or other fees/permits are the responsibility of the sellers and/or buyers, not Windy Ridge Dominiques.
 9. Any eggs for human consumption must be refrigerated in accordance to CDA guidelines. Bring your own coolers with ice if this applies to you. The only exception is for fertile hatching eggs.

Advise for potential chicken buyers at ChickenFest 2013:
 1. If you are coming to potentially buy chickens, make sure you are prepared to take them home that day, or make arrangements with the seller.
 2. Bring your own box or crate if you can.
 3. Have food, water, and a coop or brooder (young chicks) ready for when you take them home.
 4. There will be several experienced chicken keepers and chicken breeders at ChickenFest 2013. If you have a question, ask. There are many different opinions and methods regarding chicken keeping, so listen and then decide which one will work best for you and your flock
Guidelines for exhibitors and sellers:
 1. Do not mislead potential customers. Be honest and truthful
 2. Identify your items if you can with labels.
 3. Attach price tags as applicable
 4. Provide yourself a table or bench, etc on which to display your items
 5. Bring a chair to sit on. We have some, but probably not enough.
 6. Provide informational literature about your chickens or products if you can. This will help potential customers.
 7. Clean up after yourselves.
 8. Do not get into arguments or disagreements. Keep this fun.
Games and activities rules/guidelines
 1. HAVE FUN
 2. Windy Ridge Dominiques will provide chicks as prizes for game participation. If you do not want a chick, or cannot accept one, you will be recognized as the winner of the particular contest, and your chick given to the next highest score if they can accept it, and so on. We just don’t have a budget for prizes.
 3. Food judging will be informal. This is meant to be a fun event, so don’t get overly competitive. It’s for fun.
 4. Rules for each game/activity will be posted near the game location, or read to the contestants when the game begins.

There's a Colorado Chickens FB group? Running to look^^^^^^^^^^^
I can bring an extra 10 x 10 if you need it. My May 18 is now booked! Now to figure out what to bring.

No problem. I posted the info again.

When we started talking about this back in january, it was going to be a get together of chicken folks, and then it grew. I will be reminding people on our Windy Ridge page and also on the Colorado Chickens FB group.

Come over and have fun. That's what it's all about. You can buy and sell chickens, display your chickens, sell or buy chicken related stuff, play games, etc. Bring a chicken related dish for the pot luck. Beth and I bought two shade canopies, one used and one new one so we will have shade. The new one is 10 X 20!

We will be playing pin the "head on the chicken", rubber chicken launching, chicken feed sack races, etc.

From Canon City it is easy. Take 50 to Pueblo and turn north on I-25. Take exit 122 and go up the hill. More directions will follow in a couple of weeks.
If anyone has more questions, please feel free to ask.

We've never done this before, so its up to all of us to make it a success! .
