Has anyone else dealt with this before? I think this fits what my BO is dealing with better then egg binding....but its soo hard to tell! I thought i felt a mass earlier, and so did hubby, but now neither of us can feel it and she hasn't even pooped much less laid an egg of some kind! She's in her own box in the bathroom right now so i would see something if she did......

Never dealt with it. If it is that, sounds like antibiotics would be the only solution.

WOW, all you guys hatching all those eggs. How eggciting!! I don't remember having this much incubating and hatching going on last year, is it just because I am going senile?

My little girls have had a few exciting days of discovery. They have their own section of the coop and the run to keep them away from the big girls. But in the run, the fencing allows them to go into the adult section while keeping the adults OUT of their area. In the coop there is no mingling. But Thursday while I was in the house they discovered the ramp into the big girls' section of the coop. I came out looking for them, and found that all but one had discovered the big girls roost. That one kept trying to fly up to it, would get just high enough to hook her neck over it, then fall down. Too funny. By the time I ran to the house to get the camera, they were outside again.

That day they also found out that pumpkin is a very nice treat.

Friday they saw that the adults had been given pumpkin, but they had not.




They have already learned to keep their distance from the adults, so.............




They patiently waited until the coast was clear.

They get a little braver with the adults every day, but still make a graceful exit to their side when the distance separating them is less than about 3 feet.




#39, my Dominique from Wendell is convinced the chicks have the BEST treats, lol.

Is her abdomen distended? This is a clue to egg yolk peritonitis?

You might try asking on the Consolidated Kansas thread, they know all about what kind of meds to give for what symptoms, maybe because they are more rural than us here in Colorado.
