Colorado

Hubby works in the tech center he wants Parker but the deer creek area has a convent and HOA that are both strict. The pinery is the same. I am looking at Elizabeth just outside Parker at most.

Thanks for this hint about Amanda pines. I think it is going to take us some time to find the right place. Gonna love living in a hotel.\

Thanks everyone, if anyone thinks of any zoning information for Parker, Elizabeth, frank town, castle rock, sadila, or monument let me know. Right now those are the areas we are focused.
Here my computer is not working well so I can not give the exact thing.Go to elbertcounty-co.gov once there on the left you have a bunch of titles pick departments, and this will give you community and development services once there go to Elbert county zoning regulation part 2, i the beginning will tell you lots sizes and by the end of the document is where will give you amount of animals allow.Let me know if you find it.We are in Elizabeth 7.2 miles from Parker and 7.2 miles from Elizabeth exactly.(Singing Hills Road) her is a few houses for sale but some have HOA so that is something you have to look at it too.

THE CHICKENS ARE COMING!!

Yikes! THey shipped yesterday (Friday). I need to go to sleep, I have many things to do tomorrow... nut was up late working and checked MMcM's website. They were supposed to text me when they shipped, but haven't.... though my account says the chicks have shipped. I'd better not go anywhere too far this weekend!

Fortunately, I just happen to have found a box in the garage, behind some storage shelves..... it should do for a brooder for a little bit.

I feel like I have forgotten everything I've read all these months, lol.....

Boy, McMurray sure has done weird stuff this year. Whenever they arrive, I'm sure you will be fine. There's a Sweeny's in PW that will be open today, in fact I'll be at the swap behind it this morning, hopefully better attended than last month's, although it isn't really going to be any warmer today than a month ago. Sweeny's will probably have anything you may not have, and if not Big R will have it in town in all likelihood. Good luck! :)

I am so excited.

My first black mottled cochin hatched last night. I've been waiting a long time for my cochins to produce. Maybe things are looking up if Miss Daisy will lay some more eggs. My husband thinks I'm insane to be this excited about one little chick.

I do already have a feeder, small waterer (I have pountry nipples, too, for a 2-liter bottle..... but we don't drink Soda, so I don't have a 2-liter bottle, lol), starter feed, and pine shavings from Sweeney's (I bought it last month, because I was nervous something like this would happen........ and because I am OCD, I have also had the Brinsea EcoGlow20 for about a month.... But you might see me there anyway!!!!

I am so excited.

I totally get your excitement - Congrats on the hatchling!!

LOL. You'll be fine.

Thanks. Sure helps to have all of you to come running to if I need it!

Congratulations! Isn't it such a cool feeling to have the ability to produce your own critters and garden food.

He knows just not his job to look in to that...  I wish that was told to me.  So anyone in Parker who can tell me chicken safe areas.  If I found some land that would allow roos I would so take that Silver lace.

Not his job? That's funny because our realtor made sure that our wanting chickens was ok in the houses/area we were looking at. If you need a better realtor, let me know, ours was awesome. Such a huge waste of time to look at the wrong houses.

Hi Coloradans!

I just posted this on the "Managing Your Flock" forum and someone suggested I post it here, too.

Cheers!

My flock of six has had a little over a year to destroy my backyard (which wasn't in such great shape to begin with) and they've done an awesome job! I am now the scourge of the neighborhood and I'm starting to worry about what the neighbors are thinking.

I've never been much of a gardener and for good reason; I'm not very good at growing plants. Add to my personal shortcoming the fact that I live in semi-arid northern Colorado, where not much grows without extreme care and attention, and I'm in trouble. I've combed the internet and books for ideas but all I can find are ideas for lush climates like California or the Midwest (things actually grow in these places without much help); there's not enough water in the Colorado River to make those ideas work for my climate.

So, I'm wondering if there are any other CO chicken keepers out there that might have some chicken-friendly, easy-to-grow, xeric landscape ideas, or know of places to find them. I'm particularly looking for plants that will provide food, shelter/safety from predators and, most of all, keep my girls from hopping into the neighbors' yards for mini-vacations

Thanks so much, in advance, and may the grass stay greener on your side of the fence!!
