Good morning Colorado! I have just added a backyard flock. It is a switch from a large farm flock to a tiny urban flock. I will adjust to only having 4 birds-I hope!

Yikes! Scary looking snake. They can bite, is not poisonous, but it can become infected. Also, they don't rattle, but their hiss can sound like a rattle, and I think it is meant to mimic a rattle snake. And yes, they are aggressive. I read up on them years ago.HI All,
This weekend was a blur with the Take A Peak Chicken Coop Tour. So many nice people interested in getting started with chickens.
In the middle of the tour, we had a 6 foot snake come through our back yard. That added a bit of adrenaline to the day.
Can anyone tell me what kind this is? It was not afraid of us. Thanks, Wendy
You gotta do what you gotta do.Wow, thanks for sharing that Wendell. I felt terrible about my husband killing the snake. I was trying to talk him into relocating it, but we were in the middle of the chicken tour, and luckily had a 20 minute span of time with no visitors and it happened so fast.
Very Cool! They probably wouldn't want to come all the way to my place.......Wendell- I did, about 50 people on Sunday, Saturday we said we would only be open from 9 to 11 but people came
all day long. I really had planned to make it to Chicken fest, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving my house
with all the people there. I pulled up all of the signs and that didn't stop the traffic either.![]()
Hopefully next year Chicken fest and The Take A Peak tour won't be on the same weekend.
It was really fun to see so many families come and ask all of the beginner questions. The
people that came were so nice and sincere. The Tour host, John Conner, said that over the weekend
there were 1000 tour visits (not total peoplebut coop tour visits, if you added up how many people at each house).
Some of the homes that were down town were getting over 100 people a
day.
So many were surprised that my chickens would lay down in their arms like a baby and go
to sleep while being carried. I had little kids carrying around my girls. My girls loved the visits
because that meant extra treats!
It was fun, and I will offer to be on the tour again next year too.
Just a sprinkle of rain here in fountain at the moment. I welcome every drop.Anyone else getting snow? We just had a short snow shower!!!
