Turkeys??
do you put your turkeys up for the night or not?
I have a full enclosed run (with bird netting over the whole top)
and have been wondering if I need to put the turkeys up for the night.
I have an extra coop and a dog house available for the turkeys. They
have gone to sleep on top of both, or on top of the main chicken coop.
The last 3 nights I have picked them up and put them to bed.
Do I need to be doing this?

Are you getting all organic? Maybe that is the difference?

Im having a hard time finding something here in Denver, seems like everything I find is in the Springs area?

So where is everyone getting their organic feed (for those of you that are)? ANd at what prices? I can get Ranchway, but not consistently, unless I have it shipped direct (too costly),..... and the feed stores don't always end up getting what I ordered...

Good morning kiddos! I just felt like saying good morning

we bought ours at Joyful Noise Farm in Black Forest, CO for .60 a pound. Super nice people and cute farm.

I'm in Simla, for us we drive into Peyton/Falcon to Bartlett Hay Co and get their Organic Ranch-Way Chick Grower. But id like to at times support A Joyful Noise Farm. Although Bartlett Hay is a family owned feed store do I dont feel too guilty as that is a major thing for me. Making my purchases count. I purchased a 40lb bag of the Organic grower for: $32.80

I gave up. I am not their babysitter when they are old enough, had been going in, and then stopped. I figure if they want to stay outside, so be it.

Speaking of turkeys.....Time to clip wings. One managed to fly onto the hen house roof last night. It was too steep to get his footing, but he got up there. So this afternoon the Narragansetts get their wings clipped.

I agree, I also like to make my purchase count. You have to take your own container or bag, we used 5 gallon buckets with lids. this might be a "homemade blend" I know they purchase it by the ton, they just had it delivered on Friday. I don't know how far that is for you to drive. It was hour and half for me. This was my first purchase so I only got a couple of buckets to see how the girls liked it.
I will def be going back for larger purchases. :)

Welcome to the new people who have decided to join in here, and "good morning" to all!

This thread is either really quiet, or jumping! It rained again yesterday, glad it waited until late afternoon, got lots done around the homestead.

So, I figured out why my guys were not eating their FF so quickly, I had put a lot of alfalfa pellets in it, as I had a whole bag. They just don't like them, back to using grains mostly.
