And to change the subject, do you know that I sold a dozen pullet eggs as a novelty. I have a blue egg layer and her eggs look like robin eggs, albeit big robin eggs, but still money coming in.
Just thought I would share....

still waiting......

I have a Blue Andulsain @ 24 weeks, her comb is red, has been. Hoping any day now!! Also have a Buff Cochin and a Egyptian @ 20 weeks, they look more mature than Blue. Still waiting........
I thought from what I have read that the Egyptian would have started already?

Patience and I struggle. ;(

Got a dozen eggs this week from the girls, can't wait for the these other to start!

I have a trio of EFs hatched on March 10th, and just got my first egg yesterday, cutest little thing I've seen in a long time

- mine are 2 days shy of 20 weeks. Yours should start any time now, I would think.

Cool! Were they purchased to eat, or hatch, or for art work?

Congrats on selling your blue novelty eggs! I know some moms like the olive eggers for the kiddios, green eggs and ham an all. LOL

Guess it is time for an experiment!!!!! Some have luck starting their own mother culture, others not so lucky..........

Suncatcher, what I did was buy a gallon of the Braggs that already had the mother in it, and a gallon of plain old pasteurized ACV. I poured off a quart of the cheap stuff and refilled with a quart of Braggs, covered with a piece of a coffee filter rubber banded on, and put it away for a month. At the end of the month I had a brand new gallon of ACV with Mother in it. I also mixed the poured off quart with about a cup of Braggs and did the same, and used the remaining half gallon during that month I was waiting for the new stuff to grow.

I haven't tried with Apple Juice yet, but I don't know why it wouldn't work, just might take longer?

Cool, Experiment is started. I didn't have an amber colored bottle, which is what they recommended, so cut the toe out of an old sock, and put it over the bottle. Is setting in a kitchen cabinet, will see what happens. Nice that it worked for you!

Hello all! I just saw the CO thread! How exciting!! I am on the western slope & have been working really hard to make some chicken contacts! I have high hopes that this will help! I LOVE my birds, so I think this is the best place for me to 'roost'! I have Salmon Fav's, BCM's (with more in the 'bator), a tiny Frizzle with a Silkie best friend and a Silkie bf, a couple of Brahmas, some backyard mix layers and hopefully this weekend I will add some Lavender Orpingtons. I lost my Salmon Fav roo a while back so I am on the lookout for another in my neck of the woods if possible. It will be wonderful to have a source for hatching eggs at our high altitude, and I should have some soon as well. It's great to be here!!

Hi, Is it possible that you live in the Montrose area? Looking to touch base with someone from there.

There is an interactive CO map that some of us put our locations on. I will see if I can find it.....

Found the link, but the only ones on there are on the front range.

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msi...31.503629,-98.898926&spn=10.481903,19.753418

Forget the map, it is useless.
Go to the bottom of the page where it says Search this Thread and type in Montrose. There are about 5 people from there and then when you click on their profile, you can PM them and see if anyone can answer your questions.
