Oh - and of course you will be showing us pics at some point of your new Doms, yes?
Very excited for you, hoping next year makes this year a distant memory.

Judi, my blue slates run about 25 lbs for the toms and about 15 lbs for the hens. The males are much bigger. I have no idea about Christie's though. How fun! How big do the Blue Slates get?
Today I lost my beloved sebright rooster. He was the coolest guy (unlike his brother that met the dinner plate). He showed some neurologic signs a month ago, but appeared to make a full (almost) recovery. I dont think you could have recognized any symptoms if you hadnt known he was sick. I talked to the poultry vet at CSU and based on his age, was suspicious he may have leukosis, causing a tumor. I think I will send him in for necropsy, so I can survey what my flock carries. I am surprised how good he looked, yet still met his demise.![]()
I am so sorry for your loss, can you tell us more about leukosis?
x2 I too am curious as I have never heard of leukosis. So sorry that we are learning at your expense....
Insane winds up here this am. Chickens all shut in for the day and my house door is propped shut just to keep it from shaking in its deadbolt. 80 to 90 mph gusts are seriously rocking things around but no trees down yet......
