Colorado

Hi...I have posted pics of what I think are two BR roosters...about 8 weeks old..only one is crowing..so am holding off on the stew pot so to speak.. Would prefer to find a home for the other guy..
live south of Pueblo..but could deliver as far as midway between pueblo & co spgs..I know a lot of city folk cannot have roosters. Fertile eggs are so much better than non..but fresh eggs are better than none! so let me know...thanks!

I had a Rhode Island Red that was bound and determined to be a momma. I got tired of moving her off the eggs, so I let her finish 8 eggs from the incubator that were on day 7, and which I had candled and determined were good. One egg broke early. 2 eggs didn't hatch and she abandoned it. Of the remaining 5 only 2 chicks made it. I found one of the chicks dead, so I slipped her a couple of my most vigorous Buff Orpingtons hatched in the incubator under her. She was so grateful.

So cute! We have 6 eggs left under our broody. Due to hatch Saturday. I hope they hatch tomorrow or early saturday because we are leaving that day for Kansas and I want to be able to move them to their safe area. I'm going to worry about them so much! These things always time themselves for the worst times!

That's one pretty chicken! Love the color on her.

If it's the same woman I'm thinking of she has nice birds, her foundation flock is from Duane Urch. I have some up-and-comers and hope to have more chicks this fall. I lost my last hen to a reproductive issue, but have several youngsters growing out now, from the Mohawk line.
