Colorado

I am just south of fountain. Nasty looking syorm coming in at the moment. Fountain creek has been up most of the day. It came way up last night and moved a few more tree trunks to my area of the creek. Here it comes.
The chickens better hunker down.

TADA - Once again i have a couple of girls who have gone broody, a SS and a BA. So, I am looking to pick up 6-9 fertilized eggs so I can let them hatch some. I deliberately did not buy chicks this year cuz I knew I wanted to do this. I'm not particularly picky about breeds, except that I do not want bantams and I prefer good layers of large eggs. Offhand what I have now is 2 SS, 3 BA, 1 EE (I would not mind more EE's, the one I have is a great layer), 2 White Aussies, 2 BR, 1 Partridge Rock, 1 Dom (thanks Wendell), and oneWelsummer (I had 2 of these until I found one dead in the coop this morning). I am willing to drive to pick up eggs and would like to pick them up SOON. Like maybe tomorrow or Monday????

Please PM me if you have any eggs available for sale or giveaway. Mutts are perfectly acceptable.

You are right, texas storms can be crazy. So far we haven't had but a few drops this trip. We are headed to kansas tomorrow. Then back home on Monday. My friend said it was raining and hailing when she was there to check on the chickens. She didn't stick around to check on them fully. I hope they are all ok by the time we get home.

gardendufus I wish I had a bunch of eggs for you, right now I'm loaded with Silkie eggs and just gave away 4 days' worth of RIR x SLW to a lady who bought chicks from me last year and now has 2 broodies. Maybe PM Wendell? He might have time to save you some Dom x EE eggs. Or coloradogal for some of her Mayahn eggs, I hatched quite a few of those this year, they all turned out really nice.

My very last hatch of Silkies got me four beautiful chicks, that turned into four beautiful Roos...anyone need one? PM me.

They are very pretty, Ashdoes! I wonder if you might increase pullet to cockerel ratio by increasing the temp in your incubator a half a degree? Pullets react more negatively to a too-low temp, while cockerels react negatively to too-high temp. If your hatches are much higher male to female, the temp may be a bit low for the pullets.

I am always getting boys, seriously, it's crazy.
How do I change the genesis by half a degree?

Do you have the model 1588 with digital control on the top? If so, use the up arrow by the display, sometimes you have to hold it down a second to get the set temp to change, but it will move the temp by a tenth of a degree each time you press it.

Yep, that's the model. We have some hatching in a few days, if I get a ton of boys again I'm going to adjust the temp. At least the few girls we're getting sell for enough to cover the crazy amount of boys.
Thanks Judi.
