Colorado

I have colored egg layers!!! :) still no hatching, but the crack is bigger. Humidity fluctuating between 58-60% temp 99.7-100.3 f. Dates set were 1/3, 1/5 & 1/6. This is so nerve wracking. Do not open the incubator. Do not open the incubator.

Hatch itty bitty peep peeps hatch!

On another note, I have been speaking with Ranchway Feeds in ft collins and they are making me 1000lbs of gluten free organic non gmo chick starter at 23% protein, and flushing the mill with alfalfa to minimize cross contamination. They will quote me price tomorrow.

What breeds does everybody own, I am looking to get a set of good egg layers that I could possably bring to show, I live near Parker but still in Arapahoe County

Who else has had chickens that get frostbite? A month before Stock Show while I was skiing my best Rooster got it. It turned into a scab that I ended up picking off but it was still bad

Ee, rc leghorn, polish, production red, slw, br, ayam cemani, white bresse. The br & slw are hatchery chicks along with 3 of my ee's, the others are from private breeders.

I have 4 ayam cemani roos if anyone wants one for super cheap!! 2 have had crow reduction surgery. Great black meat project or 4h bird. 8 roosters is 7 too many :)

I am excited for you! Hang in there!

I went and placed an order today.
I chickened out of the hatchery surprise. lol
I ordered 3 dark brahama, 6 BA and 6 welsummer. I am such a giant chicken of ending up with all roosters. Some of the folks DH works with and some that I work with were saying they would buy some of the assorted littles from us but as time draws nearer they were dropping out of the deal so I ordered only what I can and am willing to keep.

they can go order their own.
I could not get Partridge rock from cackle since they show sold out and Meyer shows sold out of BA females.
15 will be a much easier number for me to handle anyway.
I asked for ship date of 3-23 and that any added for warmth are also vaccinated.

hoping they do not add roosters but I know it is likely.

OH breeds that I have .... this should be fun.....
EE, BA, GLW, BO, SSH, SS, California white, Bantam cochin both black and silver laced, Blue andalusian, Blue wyandotte, OH crap who am I leaving out.... this list makes only 17 of the 19 in the coop .... think think think ..... SPLASH HAMBURG yup there is Ducky now who else.... think think think .....
Hang on I have to go look sheesh.

I have an naked neck that was seriously molting when we got that really cold weather in November. She was 'naked' from molting, almost no feathers=looking oven ready...I put her in the garage for the cold weather and moved her out after the really cold weather passed.
I don't know when or how it happened, but she got frost bitten toes. They turned black, and a couple of weeks ago the tips fell off...I feel terrible...I am such a crappy chicken mom....poor thing.

I live between Elizabeth and Parker. The breeds I have:
Bielefelders (2 different lines same strain GFF)
Salmon Faverolles (2 different strains)fox took mot of my breeders so I am starting again
Sulmtalers
Coronation Sussex (just girls the fox took mot of my breeders, I want to see if I keep with this breed)
Black copper Marans from the Fancy chick
Barnevelders from the Fancy Chick
Rhode bars from GFF.

Sadly my best layer breeds have not standard here, so can not be show.
My Salmon are good layers but their eggs are a bit on the small size probably small medium but no way a large.
