It has finally decided to snow in earnest here as well. Only about four inches so far. but beautiful big fluffy flakes coming down.

Thanks for the Azure info.

So far on my neighbors and my hatch. 16 out and about 25 pipped. They are coming out like popcorn. They sure are cute fluffballs
It is snowing here as well. Only a couple inches on the ground but the wind is blowing pretty well. Hopefully we will have decent snow on the ground in the morning and the kids and i can go sledding. One of my neighbors rabbits is also giving birth today. It seems to be the weekend for rebirth. At least around my neighborhood. Hopefully it will spread.

good lucky everyone with their hatchlings… It's in the air with all this snow. We are getting a great snowfall here in colorado springs.

I hope everyone continues to have good luck with their hatches right now! So exciting!

It was crappy out here all day & I've been having some trauma/recovery depression, so I decided to try decorating some eggs since I'm a terrible cook & needed something to do. This is the 1st one I got done:

700

I had planned on filling the eggs with a "fortune" & glitter to make the struggle of leaving it intact or cracking it open real for whomever gets the egg, but I forgot to do that with this one. I think I'll keep it, anyhow.

This is just one of my hens' eggs. Used a Dremel tool to put a hole at either end of it, blew the insides out (favourite part of the process for the dogs), 40mins in a bleach bath, either air dry for a day or 30mins in oven at 230deg to cook the polymer clay tentacle, Martha Stewart acrylic paint, pearl scrapbooking embellishments & E6000 to glue everything down. Most time consuming part was the tentacle. You'd think after making them for 5+ years now I'd be faster at them. The other egg I worked on today is a Mardi Gras themed one.

That is a very interesting idea for the egg shells. I bet they would sell, especially with fortunes in them.....
All of the hoopla about the storm and 6- maybe 7 inches but very cold. Tiny flakes still coming down. I should just stop reading the weather. I am really glad that I do not have the stressful job of the weather forecasters around here!

Nice egg Uzi!

Hatch update; I have 7 hatched, 6 are fine, one has an unabsorbed yolk sack and I don't think it will make it. One is hatching now but the chicks keep rolling it around so I don't think that one will make it either. It seems really wet and not in the same head-up position the other chicks were in, though it is hard to tell because they keep rolling it around.
All 4 of PC eggs hatched, the one that probably isn't going to make it is one of PC's eggs.

The whole reason I started with was for naked neck chicks, out of the three chicks that hatched only one is a naked neck. I am so sad

One is yellow and one is all black with black legs.
ugg...I could have gotten unknown eggs anywhere. I didn't need to have them shipped to me.

Hope everyone is warm and snug.

I want a job where I can be wrong 50% of the time!!

Edited to say, it is 11F here right now, so not too bad. It is hard to say how much snow we got. It was windy last night for a while so it moved the snow around.
I can say that my basset hound looks like she is swimming through the yard. Her head is just above the snow, you can't see her body.

I went out to the gals this morning and the snow is over the tops of my boots. That makes it at least 12 inches. UGH.

Cool egg decorating Uzi!

Glad you have hatches Maggie. Bummer they are not what you expected.

DH is out in this very nasty road day. He is driving a tow truck. He tells me that there is at least 2 inches of ice under the snow pack on the roads. It worries me when he is having to go pull some wreck back onto the interstate. Yesterday he was pulling one up and a car lost control striking the state patrol car just behind the car being loaded. Luckily it was not enough to ram the police car into the tow truck.
Freaking scary. We lost a neighbor that way several years ago. I made DH stop driving tow trucks but he recently went back to it since it pays better.

Be safe everyone.

Babs
