Always one that does not stay where you put it........ I have one rooster than NEVER stays in his pen, ever, if he can go over the fence, he does!

Hello all! I've been on BYC for a few months now, but just found this thread. I adopted a 2 month old black star last June. Got her 4 friends a week later, buff orp, white leghorn, welsummer, and a really cool looking mutt, who turned out to be a rooster. I didn't want him overmating my girls so I "had to" get 7 more (cochins, buff orps, a production red battery rescue, and a teeny tiny black bantam). Next thing you know, I'm a crazy chicken lady. I hatched 11 (mostly ee's/oes) at Christmas, 5 white leghorn mixes on Friday the 13th/Valentine's day, and I have 17 faverolles in lockdown, due Friday, with 1 pip! I'm never going to sleep tonight tonight! There's no way I'll ever read the thousands of posts on here. I kind of wish there were subcategories by area. In case any one is looking for other crazy chicken who live nearby (like I am), I'm in the Arvada / Golden area.
LOL! I can totally identify... I've not gotten to do the hatching thing yet but that's on tap for this spring. Thinking of hatching a set of meat chickens instead of buying day olds so we can enjoy that part.
I don't know how folks keep up on this thread as it's so busy (that's a good thing) but I love coming in and checking it out when I can. I'm up in the east Boulder/Lafayette area so a drive from you but still on the front range!
Welcome bbqmama!
I'm in south east Boulder too, off McCaslin and South Boulder Road.
Great to have someone here so close to me! What kind of meat birds are you thinking of hatching?
I actually had to lock up the chickens...that Crazy Wyandotte Cream mix keeps coming to the back door...and either screams at me, or just sits there. I went to check for eggs, and there she is at the door again, I have no idea how long she was there. She's the only one crazy enough to come out. Sometimes her Cochin Cream mix sister follows her, but today, even she thought it was a dumb idea to leave the barn. It's at least 150 ft from the barn to the back door...crazy chicken.
20/29 Swedish flower hen eggs have great veining, and one of the three surprise eggs are veined. Such fun!
