Congrats on the hatching! I still can't wait to have enough room & money to score an ACxEE chick or 2 from you. Look at how cute those little black fluff balls are! And thank goodness your pullet is feeling better! :)

@21hens-incharge It would be so hard for me to give up any chicks! LOL Good thing I have strict limits on how many I can hatch or I'd be in super trouble.

@COChix Best of luck with your hatch! I hope it all goes well!

My little dudes are developing tiny mohawks! I don't know for sure if they'll develop partial crests or if the head feathers will smooth out as they grow out, but they crack me up right now. They're also flying around a lot. Mostly from my hand to my shoulder to the edge of my iPhone, but there have been a few scares where they flew right towards Arya & I may or may not have shrieked like a scared cartoon. They are definitely taking after their rooster. Except in the vocal department. That's all from the hens.
OH MY GOODNESS he or she is so funny. Got that tummy sucked in and all like it is saying "Go ahead just make fun of my little poof on top one more time and we will see who gets the last laugh."

I am not sure I will be going to the swap tomorrow. I look at the littles and just cannot part with them quite yet. I also had a really rough day at work and am beyond tired.

Ash,
I am sorry for your loss of the little one. What a freak accident.

DK,
I am glad the polish is doing better. Congrats on the hatchlings. They are very cute.

Sorry for your loss, it happens, sometimes in the strangest ways!  They may out grow vulture hocks, wait until they are at least five months old.

Yep, they're 8 months now, still big vulture hocks. It's fine, I swear it's like having a barn full of pigs, they eat constantly.

Aw, bummer. But I totally understand. One of my dogs gave me a major scare last night, didn't get any sleep & that made work even worse than it has been since my car accident. I got home & was just done with the world (but also relieved because my dog seemed to be in much better condition). Sometimes, it's just better to use the weekend to rest & relax. And enjoy your chicks! :D

Edit To Add: My chicks are so surly! LOL They are always giving that look to everything!

I am just so beat after moving the 600 pound machines all day that I don't think I can get the brooder into the truck let alone chase chicks. Some days I just do not like my job at all. This was one of those days.

I may find the strength to plant some iris by the coop tomorrow. I can at least sit on me arse to do that lol.

Well something must be wrong with my incubator, as we are on day two and no baby chicks yet. Guess I have to cook them a bit longer ;). So far things are being held steady by the bator no issues there. I now have to make a candler to use for candling 42 eggs, wow what did I sign up? I didn't think about having to candle ALL 42. Oh well, should be a fun exerience.

I wish it only took 2 days! Lol

Well @COChix , you don't really NEED to candle... I mean, you could just wait it out and see what happens... They either hatch

, or they don't

. Just think of the anticipation that method would evoke! The thrill and excitement of NOT KNOWING until the very end! Like a good mystery book/movie

Candling would be like reading the last chapter when you've only just started reading the book... what fun is there in already knowing the ending before hand?

Hehehe...

By the way, how's the recovery coming along? Are you allowed/able to do more now? Feeling any better?
