I see you have your favorite band as your avatar now lol. Cute! I am glad you got more than one since you are worried about the other 2 picking on them.

I tried giving my broody cochin 3 chicks this morning. She refused them. I may try again tonight but I don't to stress them out any more since they are only 2 days old. They are BSL. ( I put them in the brooder in the house when it was clear she did not want them.)

Congrats Uzi on your shipped eggs hatching, and glad you were able to assist!! Hope you have a breeding pair if that is what you wanted!!!
Thank you! I learned a lot during this. I was hoping to eventually get a separate phoenix bantam flock, so if by some miracle they are a pair, I would not hate that. :)

So.. it happened. Neighbor called code enforcement, she came out, took a look around and said I WASN'T IN ANY VIOLATION OF CODE especially since my roosters live inside my house in the basement in a special built sound muffling box since April 11th

after having a crow reduction surgery.

The neighbor also complained about SMELL, which there was none.

Neighbor rents, we own. Neighbor rents 2 bedroom house with yard and shed for $850 a month in a very nice neighborhood. I think the neighbor needs to move.

How can one encourage a neighbor to move? I'm so sick of bending over backwards for this neighbor and him making up blatant lies. This is making me so mad and upset. Especially insinuating that my animals are living in filthy unsanitary conditions. Code enforcement took a look around and said she was very impressed with my lay out, cleanliness, obviously I care deeply about my chickens and property.

She said if they complain again the neighbor would have to file a complaint and she would state that she had visited and saw the conditions of the complaint was unfounded.

This really has me so upset!!

I had no movement on the eggs last night when I got home, so I took initiative to try and assist. I just made sure that the 2 that were pipped externally had a zip started and could breathe through their pips. I didn't want to do too much and mess up the natural process.

This morning, nothing was happening still so assisted with the zips a little more. I got 1 Blue and 1 Blue Red to bust their way out of their eggs. The 3rd unfortunately suffocated as it was shrink wrapped and I was unsure of how to help that one other than trying to moisten the membrane back up. 1 other died in the egg some time during lockdown, probably also due to shrink wrapping. There are 2 more in the incubator still, but I have a feeling they're probably already dead as well.

Definitely a learning experience between my own flock's eggs and shipped eggs from GA.

uzis that great that you got 2, my experience with shipped eggs has always been dismal, at this altitude eggs from lower altitudes don't do well, from shipped eggs I consider myself lucky for a 30% on average. My own eggs is another question, they pop out all over the place like popcorn.

Do you know how to get ahold of the owner they're renting from? Maybe you could complain to them? We're kind of in a similar situation with a very rude neighbor renting the house across the street from us. Their 10-12 yr old son has driven their car into our front yard trees twice and they drag race a real POS up and down our street with 2 families that have small children. There are just some extremely self centered and odd people out there.

I would not be upset in the least, since she said you are within the codes, nothing to worry about. Give them enough rope, they will eventually hang themselves. Karma has a way of coming back around, sit back and watch the show....... lol
