Colorado

Hang in there. They will come. They just want to be on time. Mine are generally early and once they start they hatch out like popcorn. By the end of 24 hours. The ones of mine that havent pipped. Generally dont.
Patience grasshopper. All things come to those that wait.

Ha nobody said I needed to have patience! It is so hard, gotta find things to keep me busy so I don't keep checking the bator every 10 minutes to see if a baby chick has hatched since the last time I checked, lol.

how do you do this all the time, hatching? This is my first, does it get any less anxiety provoking?

It get easier and less streefull with time. I have one more hatch and then i am done for this year. These will be my cochin cross oliv eggers and i am hoping bantom cochins. These eggs are very dark and hard to candle. They just stay in until they hatch or not. My home made incubator is pretty automated so i dont have to worry about much except adding water. Humidity just stays between 65 and 70%. I dont raise it for hatching time.
Just stick with it and keep yourself busy. Time will pass before you know it. A watched pot never boils.

I've only been through the process twice, but the second time was definitely less stressful like you said. I didn't hover around the incubator even half as much as I did on my 1st go.

Here's my grandma! She's become my favorite along with my little partridge rock, so calm and friendly!

Today, almost 10 weeks! Crazy the color change! Love her blue head and blue muffs, and she's pure white under her wings!

Mercury & Frost (who needs a new name because the silver stripe down his back is completely gone) are 5wks old already! He's making dinosaur noises and I expect them to kill me in my sleep like velociraptors any night now.

The little Blue Red - it's tail feathers are coming in straight down. I don't know if they're supposed to do that? All the other chicks tail feathers have/are coming in out & up.

The Big Blue - is pretty much the leader of the younger 4 chicks. They all follow it around and copy its movements.

The d'Anvers - I *love* its little owl-like face! Its has also already figured out how to jump up onto things already.

The d'Uccle - The feathered legs crack me up so much. I wasn't expecting them to be so feathered already, but I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box anymore. This one is extremely curious about my smaller dog, Arya (that's what it's looking at in the picture). Fingers crossed it doesn't end up a bad relationship with the 2.

here's a recent pic of most of my babies from the farm and ranch store, the black and white one is the only one with a bigger comb, what do you think my chances of that being my only rooster (with a couple bossy hens) might be? They have been flapping up to the temporary roost, its a curtain rod :)
The coop is still in progress though, maybe we'll get most of it done this week since the rain stopped !

Thank you both, I figured this part would be the most stressful about hatching. I had a fatality already, I dropped an egg on day 18 when I was taking the turner out. Fell on brick fireplace and immediately had blood oozing from it. It was one of our brown eggs, I should have looked at the embryo. Just felt bad, but these things happen.

Gosh they are all so cute. I don't remember when we got our chicks that they got their feathers that quickly. It is all a blur now, but enjoying yours. Watch out, you might need to sleep with one eye open with your raptors sleeping so close to you!

Cute, what breeds?
Gentile reminder. Wild asparagus is out. Pick your private stash before someone else finds it. Asparagus and poached eggs on an English muffin... mmmm,
Yum, no asparagus over here.
