Wow, sorry you have to let them go, but things happen, and most times for a reason (even if we don't see it right then). I don't need any more birds right now and if I ever sell this place to move, will be selling my birds as well. I'll get more wherever I settle, but since I'm not sure where or when that will be, I can't move them with me. Like was said, hope you'll still drop in every now and again. You did say you'll have chickens again some day

its so sad. I've heard that they can be so sweet.

The one buff Orpington roo I have is sweet! He just talks and talks every time someone comes into the pen. He will even lay down on your lap while you pet him

Hey folks,

A link to our ad....we are selling our flock. Just not enough time right now, sadly we have to say goodbye and hope that they go to someone who will enjoy them as much as we have. We will have chickens again one day but for now this chapter closes.

Thanks, I am sure the day they leave will be hard, but also know I will feel a bit less stressed with a burden of more animals. They were great therapy for a time in my life when I changed my path, for the better. They did their part in helping me heal and providing me/us with hours of enjoyment, laughs and yes tears.

Not sure yet what we are doing with our giant BO roo, Rocco. He has had quite the run and has seen it all. He has been a great flock protector and is great with our one eyed girl, he is so patient with her and goes back to get her. She often gets confused only being able to see out of one eye, trying to navigate out of their free range pens into the other areas of the property. He will get the other hens out and the go back and guide Left Eye out to the crew. Nothing beat a good rooster that is for sure.

I didn't know you were getting out of the chicken keeping biz all together

I sure don't need more roosters and until I figure out how many roosters I have I can't get any more hens.
I hope you find nice homes for all the birds. Like everyone says, keep in touch. We will be here when you get back into chicken keeping.

Saw this on one of our EE hens....the oddest thing. Hard dirt impacted around the nails, couldn't pry off dry. Had to be soaked off.

Hello Colorado ! I'm new to the BYC boards, to chicken-raising, and a long-time homeschooling mom with 2 children still at it. We live near Fountain, CO (btwn CS and Pueblo). We have 4 chicks we picked up at the local Big R a week ago and have 7 more coming from MyPetChicken next week.

Our coop/run/greenhouse is getting built slowly but surely and I am wondering if it's common to insulate the hen house portion considering Colorado's winter weather?
