I will keep you updated on the Blue.  I had ordered a Wyandotte and the hatchery sent me her instead. She's really pretty, kind of small and a bit skittish. Her name is Sioux, as in Sioux City, Iowa. Get it? 

We just had a massive hail storm here. The hail was only about marble sized, but was relentless and wind driven. It looks like we had a 4" snow storm! My brand new lilacs and hostas are sticks.  I am NOT a happy camper. I'm glad the girls are still in the brooder in the garage. I can't imagine how loud it would have been in the coop!

Yeah the Rockies are in rain delay as I type.

We got like 12 rain drops here so no hail. It got cooler at least.
I am sorry your plants took such a hard hit.
I would be in tears if my peach trees got shredded as they have set fruit this year.

There is a button that looks like mountains with a dot in the top left. If you click on it you can upload pics to the post pretty easily. You will click "upload files" then select the pic you want to share and right click then click on select. You will then be able to click on the size you want it to be in the post and click on submit to put it in the post. It is easier then it sounds.

My kids bought me lilacs for Mothers Day and they were doing so well. Now they are sticks.

The lilacs will bounce back. Give them time to do so. My dogs ate a lilac down to a six inch stick and I did not water it for an entire year. We were putting in a new fence and my hubby said "hey what is this stick that is in potting soil?" I said it was a lilac the dog ate. He planted the stick in another area and it is now 7 foot tall.
Don't give up yet.

The top pic was taken last Friday, when they were about 15 days old. Sioux, the Iowa Blue, was camera shy that day. Trudy (Gertrude) is already showing signs of the green iridescence Australops are know for. The one on the bottom is Stella, the chipmunk EE. She is huge! she was the first to roost, on the water container, of course, and the first to try to fly out of the box. I think I need a bigger brooder box!

Welcome @Auntie Moose Cute chickies.

It's day 8 for my very first hatch so I candled my quail eggs today. I set 55 thinking only about half would be fertile since my birds are young. Turns out only 6 were infertile and the rest are developing. I'm not counting my chicks yet but it's pretty exciting.

@Auntie Moose Welcome! I'm interested to see the Iowa Blue too, i have never heard of one. I already miss raising my little chicks and they're only 12 weeks old. I have a feeling more will sneak into my future i have two Australorps but one turned into a giant rooster! Although the pullet has yellow feet so does that mean she's a Jersey Giant?

No hail or even rain here but i had fun watching this storm build on the plains last night

The flock is doing well. Plotting a run extension (although they free range the yard most of the time) and already thinking about how to winterize it... we all know the Stark words... Winter is coming...lol. Especially this close to Wyoming.

Aww, so sorry to hear about your lilacs We didnt get any rain or hail here today, but the bazillion grasshoppers in my yard are tearing my potted tomatos, strawberries, and flowers to shreds - they look just like your lilacs My husband put some triaz-oh-whatever down around the patio yesterday and its helped reduce the population, i just hope its not too late. Desperate times call for desperate measures! Im keeping my fingers crossed for just a little rain here to help wet the stuff down. The coop took priority over our greenhouse....lol The stork arrived this morning with my seven new chicks from MyPetChicken. Im so excited and grateful they made it here all safe and sound. Once i received the shipping notice on Monday, my motherly instinct kicked in and I worried about their stressful trip. All 11 are in their brooder now just eating, growing, pooping, and waiting for the big moving-to-the-coop day They will be in their little chicken GLORY when they see all the grasshoppers out there! :yiipchick (nope, no triazo is anywhere near their area) The Colorado weather, wind, and bugs sure do create a challenge!
