Super cute!!!

I missed what breed you had cooking.... Um incubating. So tiny and cute whatever the breed!!!

They are a mix. Splash laced red wyandotte pullet and Blue Ameraucana cockerel. So I'm calling them EEs. It should be fun to see them grow.

I also ended up going to Buckley's and getting two BOs and a Delaware. I wanted to make sure I got a few pullets. BOs were on my list of wants so that was lucky. They all seem to be getting along well.

Oh WOW! That will make them fun to watch grow. They should look interesting for sure.

I think you will like the BO and Delaware a lot. Both breeds are mellow and sweet. My BO Sunny is super friendly and always wondering what I am doing.

Now we will need pics of them all growing up.....

Somewhere on BYC was a picture of a BLRW EE. Beautiful lacing and gorgeous hen. Had me wanting to add a BLRW hen to my EE project.

The BLRW are a beautiful breed. Mine is actually Splash and more of a copper red then the mahogany red they are supposed to be but I think she is beautiful.

I will gladly oblige to your request for more chick pics. Hehe! Here are my Deleware and BOs. They are pretty calm little chicks. One of the BOs was hanging out with the EEs this morning while eating.

Greetings from Evergreen! My daughter and I have too many chickens. But all are happy, now that we put up our electric fence! It may be against zoning, but it makes more sense to prevent the bears from eating your girls, than killing the bear. We had an unfortunate episode as bears were heading toward hibernation. The bear grabbed the chain link fabric and pulled it away from the bar. Then proceeded to eat and kill all 9 birds over 2 days. My 10 year old was ready to set up a blind on the roof and shoot her dead! (My hunting friends tell me this is legal if your "livestock" is threatened.) I told my daughter that we would not be killing bears, as we essentially laid a smorgeshborg on their doorstep. Our next round of girls will turn 2 this spring, so we've made it thru two hibernation cycles with the electric fence. We're not exactly "in the sticks" either-- we're in Hiwan Hills.

Welcome to the thread! Yes, the bears are quite something. When I first got chickens, "a few years back" (cough, cough), the bears would come through but not mess with the birds. They were looking for the feed but we always kept the feed in our house so we never had any issues. Then the drought hit. Then the flood hit. Then the fires hit. Then the bears seemed to get very aggressive in their hunting and also much more people aggressive. Electric fencing is the only way to keep chickens these days. I am assuming that the only bears to survive these past years are the ones that started hunting more and raiding more and therefore they are the ones having cubs. Gone are the days when the bear would just come by for a raspberry and bolt at the sight of a human.
That at least has been my experience in the Front Range....

Speaking of pictures...

My EEs are 10 days old and growing fast. They are very attached to each other. The dark one can now jump on top of the heating pad but the grey can't make it yet. When the black one gets on top they both start peeping like mad and don't stop till I put the grey one on top. A little annoying but cute.



The BOs and Delaware are just so sweet. Last night one learned that she could go up my arm to my shoulder. She just sat there looking around. My first batch of chicks were never this friendly. This morning I put one on Cody's back just for fun. She didn't seem bothered but he was less than excited.

@lomine - So cute! The dog pics remind me of my dog stuffing his face into the group of chicks to let them jungle gym on him. I don't know what it is about their feather, but he just loves sticking his face in them. I'm in a book making class for college, and I made one out of feathers and wire, and I kept finding him huffing the bag of feathers!

I've been working on starting up my own little business the past couple of months. As things at my day job are coming to a head concerning my disabilities and the manager and supervisor being bigots, I don't see myself sticking around here for more than 2 more years. So, I figured I'd try to get get a small art business going to start paying for the animals expenses. Right now, everything is animal/nature themed.
