We just planted some trees for the third or fourth time in 2 years... so far, no survivors.

My dog just turned 13. She is due for her vaccinations and checkup. We have been procrastinating going to the vet due to a lump she grew. We don't want bad news, and I feel she is too old for surgery (though otherwise healthy). In the past few weeks the lump shrank. It was large for months and now is almost gone. I don't know what that means, but I am thankful for any time we have left together.

Both my dogs have lumps too. Their mom (owned by my mom) also has one. They are all benign lipomas (fatty deposits) and totally harmless. All the vets we've talked to about them say it's better not to try to remove them. It's apparently pretty common in older dogs so it might not be anything to worry about.

The fruit trees and maple I planted last year all survived. I think it helps to add polymer to the holes. It absorbs water and slowly releases as needed.

I figure it's probably a fatty tumor, I have seen them on other dogs I've had as well. If it's not, I don't think I want to know, nor will we do anything. She is an old dog. The oldest dog I have ever had. Aside from some arthritis, she is doing just fine. She is slow, and enjoys my garden type days when she can just hang out outside, but doesn't have to walk far or try and keep up. I will look into polymer for the trees. I generally defer to my husband on the tree care and just do as I'm told in terms of things like how deep to dig a hole and how much to water them I take care of the other plants. I have been weeding my one garden bed, which is predominantly wildflowers as well as some perennials I planted as pollinators. This will be my third summer with it and I'm fairly confident which of the random things that start to sprout are going to be flowers and which ones need to go.

My dogs have arthritis too. My female has it pretty bad in her back hips. About a year ago her acupuncture vet recommended I give her turmeric. She was getting that for a long time but recently I switched to Turmeric Curcumin. It's a duck flavored treat so it's easy to give. Those, dasuquin supplements, and acupuncture have really helped her stay more active. My other dog doesn't get acupuncture but he gets the same supplements and I can tell it helps him with his knees.

I'm really not good with plants either. Haha I deffer to my mother on those things and she's the one that recommended polymer.

Sorry for your bad luck @Tsheaby Was it sold under the name Americauna? If so that means it's an Easter Egger. What's it look like? Is he well behaved?

He was sold under the name Americauna, yes! (I also still have the receipt) I feel bad- He's only 10 weeks old & quite nice when he's not chasing around Abigail (a Blue Americauna that has stand offs with him). He "squaks" in excitement and is the first to greet me when I'm around, especially when bringing treats. What really gave him away, was that he picks on the gals, he pecked at my feet when I had slippers on once (probably the fuzz....) but I've been making a point to pick him up often, at first thinking "she" was establishing head hen status. He's nice to humans and has gotten used to the dogs.

I CAN take him back to the place I purchased him at as a chick, but I'm afraid he will become a dinner entrée and want to at least try to find him a home if I can.

Only 8 mm? Maybe I have a rooster problem I know there are more than that here, OK so half or so are still in the grow out stage but still I love a good rooster.

or 7 but who is counting? Some women collect shoes, I collect poultry
