I'm not a fan of it either :hmm Handy at building:hmm? Well I can hit a nail without hitting my thumb.....Ok that's not true LOL But I have been looking at some of the small coop designs on here.
 
There really are a lot of great coops in the coops section.

A 4x8 coop would be a very good use of materials since 2x4's and most sheet goods come in 8' lengths.

Personally I like the extra space. In the winter. I know technically for 4 birds a 4x4 coop is 16 square feet but it gets really tiny once food, water, and nests are added.

Of course budgets are always important.

I would do a different roof. Theirs is protected from weather under a roofed area.

The nesting box hangs off the outside and the food and water will be in the lower section so that leaves all the space above for them. But I still think its a bit small.

Well it's final. What I expected to be pullets turned out to be cockerels. At this point, I have two Ayam Cermanis, Two Lavender Orpingtons, and one Buff Orpington. I am willing to consider a fair price for them. I would like to keep one for breeding, but a good offer will be acceptable. If you are looking for a rooster or more than one, let me know. I have been getting fertilized eggs.

I'm located in El Paso county.

Hi All! I'm new to BYC, and looking forward to meeting everyone who is as obsessed with these feathery gits as I am.

I'm in Denver, and I have an 8 lady flock (as many as our zoning allows).

I wouldn't worry to much about the squirrels.
I had one that was an egg theif....until he met my Delaware. :lau

I don't keep a rooster.
