Colorado Springs area peeps! I would like to order 2 chicks from mypetchicken.com but need 6 more to reach the minimum order. I am willing to pay for all shipping. Anyone interested. Please?
Or alternatively, is anyone in Denver planning on ordering chicks and perhaps I can add mine to your order and pick up?
Wow, what a great resource! I am looking into getting some chicks from Eric Fullenwider, who was listed on the message boards. Thank you so much for pointing me in that direction! Saves me a lot of trouble trying to get people together!
Thanks guys! I am looking forward to learning all about the wonderful world of chickens.
After reading some posts though, I am bummed that so many of you are having zoning problems :-( I joined the facebook group for Sustainable Food in Denver. Hopefully we can get some of this changed in the near future. I am glad I checked on the zoning before getting my chicks, there was a big opportuntiy for disappointment.
Cara - I hope you get to build up your flock soon! That's terrible that you had to downsize.
Allison welcome!! I'm up in Conifer, so not too far from you. I wish that all of the cities down the hill would have the same rules for chickens. My chickens are cleaner and quieter than my dogs! Luckily we're in an area where I can have up to a 400 sq. ft coop with no limit on birds. I'm only lucky enough to have an annoying neighbors who whine about my roos. I'm down to 2 bantam roos who don't make a lot of noise! Tee hee, wait until my neighbors get back in the spring (they're snowbirds) only to discover I have goats that bleat at EVERYTHING!!!!!!
I have a quick question for you. Laying had picked up in my standard flock until last week when we had the cold snap and the snow. Now I'm lucky if I get an egg a day.
They're eating normally, pooping normally, behaving normally... Any suggestions as to why they've stopped laying? I'm thinking of heading outside with my big butcher knife and threatening them with freezer camp!!!
