We're in rural Elbert County (about 1 1/2 hr NE from CS). The bantams are only 5 weeks old but we're not going to sell them yet. Want to keep the blue and green layers, plus they are not good stock (got from Cackle: 1 ee is dying and 2 more have crossed beaks). We have 6 adult eggers: 1 lays blue eggs, 1 lays blue-green eggs, 2 lay green eggs, and 2 lay brown eggs .. but I don't think we're selling them either.
Just stopping the cross-breeding project ... judging each bantam as they grow, keep those who lay blue or green eggs, keeping track of personalities and other traits, matching to breed silkie to egger ... etc. THAT is the part that will just take too much time and effort.
We are hatching a week's worth of eggs ... they will be set in the incubator Saturday. Those chicks we'll be selling.
Many will be from green, blue-green and blue eggs, egger hens to a pure-bred blue ameraucana roo (who is absolutely gorgeous!).
Sorry I don't have any for you now.
