Colorado

Just FYI: I'm giving up my chicken project for a while. Possibly a very long while. Lack of support and all. I put the link for my rant on my signature if you're interested.

Anyway, I'll be selling some chicks soon. Just thought I'd post.

Ah poop Vick sorry to read that you're going through this

Have you ever been so completely frustrated and ticked at a family member that you just want to go ... scream?!?! Then just give up. Then scream and throttle and so on.

Thanks for the hugs, colochick.

We're in rural Elbert County (about 1 1/2 hr NE from CS). The bantams are only 5 weeks old but we're not going to sell them yet. Want to keep the blue and green layers, plus they are not good stock (got from Cackle: 1 ee is dying and 2 more have crossed beaks). We have 6 adult eggers: 1 lays blue eggs, 1 lays blue-green eggs, 2 lay green eggs, and 2 lay brown eggs .. but I don't think we're selling them either.

Just stopping the cross-breeding project ... judging each bantam as they grow, keep those who lay blue or green eggs, keeping track of personalities and other traits, matching to breed silkie to egger ... etc. THAT is the part that will just take too much time and effort.

We are hatching a week's worth of eggs ... they will be set in the incubator Saturday. Those chicks we'll be selling.
Many will be from green, blue-green and blue eggs, egger hens to a pure-bred blue ameraucana roo (who is absolutely gorgeous!).

Sorry I don't have any for you now.

Found this on Craigslist just now: http://denver.craigslist.org/grd/2284136514.html

We have 2 beautiful hens (Sussex & Barred Rock) which we unfortunately need to find a new home for. As they have free range to our backyard they are very friendly and tame. Combined they're currently laying about 3 to 4 eggs /week. We are currently traveling too much to be able to keep them. They are 2 years old. We also have some feed we could give you.

Thought somebody might be interested!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed people trying to find homes for their "two" year olds that are "still laying everyday" posting on Craigs right now?
