Hi everyone, nice to see the Colorado thread so active! I have to share the news of my Barred Easter Eggers hatching tonight. 1st one just got out of its shell. Bought the eggs right here off BYC. Will try to post pics tomorrow.
My daughter wants one silkie or a polish for the flock, because they look so silly
. She loves the crazy goofy look on them.
Are the golden polish ones ( from elizibeth county corner store ) good for colorado winters? - they seem to be the only pullets around.
Or should i keep looking for a silkie, which seems better(?) suited for CO. Lots of kids in my area will love them.
I have a chicken grain garden this year (and last) where I am growing quinoa, corn, millet, and peas/beans/misc. I am trying Milo in a container and seeing if I can get it to do anythign. I went to Mountain Mamas and found some things to sprout and thought it would be nice to give those a try last year. Last year was a trial and just for random treats, this year is to suppliment.
