As for the snow ... unbelievable! For some stupid reason, I wasn't expecting it. I had put out some squash plants and strawberries last week. They now have snow on them. HOPE if I just leave them alone, they'll be ok.
And I absolutely can't believe that it's STILL snowing! A little has stuck but for the most part, it's just dissolving into water. My poor broody hen alone in the maternity ward must be wondering what the hairy heck is going on, and why I gave her oatmeal this morning. And the adults refuse to leave their coops.
I don't blame them.
So ... still have humphrey, the rooster. FREE. PLEASE someone take him from me! I'll even throw in a laying egger who lays brown eggs (I think): Robin. Together she and Humphrey will produce babies that will have the blue-egg gene.
SOME chickens are ok with this weather. This morning I opened the gate to the coop ... they go out in between being pelted with rain/snow/hail. You could open the door and let them decide.
BTW:

People bring whatever they have and sell (or trade or give away) from their car or truck. Usually caged or boxed but easy to see. Last year one person had a whole bunch of cages with bunnies and chicks lined up. We got a kitten and she even threw in a baggie of kitten chow.
We're taking Humphrey-the-rooster and chicks there. IF you see Hubby there with Humphrey, tell him you're from BYC and you can have him for free. If not, he'll charge $10. And hopefully Hubby will be there at 9 when they open.
MyKidLuvzGreenEgz I tried to PM you but your inbox is full so here was my message.
I am still interested in the rooster and hoping you still have him. I am trying to figure out logistics because we have games for the next couple weekends, my sis is getting married this weekend and hubby is working the next couple as well. I may be able to squeeze a Sunday in. Would you be willing to meet me halfway? Also I don't know if you can answer this but I will ask.
I have an EE rooster right now that is fertile but I would love to mix your rooster with my hens and see what I can hatch. Will only the dominant rooster get on the hens? And if so would I be best to remove my current roo and let yours take over?
