THought I'd offer these locally--a couple silkie roosters, one dark blue $10 and one self blue $10. Both a year old and will be available after Memorial Day. I have trimmed up their faces & bottoms for the breeding pen. The self blue is beginning to molt tail feathers & he'd be fine for pet or a lavendar project. He has a small crest & less fluff than the blue. The blue has lots going for him--excellent feet, beak, comb & eye color, body shape--only defect are some horns off his comb.

Also available is a young splash cockerel $10 from Reese Poultry eggs here on BYC. The only reason he's going and not his 3 brothers is they have better toe separation and some boys have to go.

Melissa now has 10 bobwhites for her daughter and I am the proud owner of 6 coturnix quail. I forgot how tiny they are just after hatching!!!!!

Humphrey has decided to assert his authority. Last night when I went in to gather eggs he ran at my foot and tried to just peck it. Kinda caught me off guard and I was probably too close to him. Luckily I had the water bucket in my hand and just stuck it up in front of him. This morning was a different story. First thing when I went in to open the coop window he started walking right at me like he was on a mission. He got a little close for my comfort but I stood my ground and stayed facing him. Now this is a little hard to do when you are trying to open a window and secure it. He waited for the one second I looked away and came at me full force. I was quick enough to get my foot up to stop him from getting my leg but he seriously thought about coming back for more. So I guess the reason I am telling you all this is because I want to know what you recommend to do to let him know I am boss and not him. He was fine this evening when I went out but I made sure to make my presence known and threw them some scratch and that seemed to occupy him. He doesn't bother me but if we go out of town I don't want to have to worry about the neighbor girl going in to get eggs. Should I go in armed with a water hose or something else?

I don't think mine have stopped eating since I got them in the brooder! Maybe mine are slower because they are so weighed down with feed

they are really big aren't they?? LOL. the welshies are so tiny...still...in comparison.
