Colorado

Anybody hear any information about tonight's vote on the new ordinance in Denver? I'm hoping it passes eventhough I'm in Broomfield.

I hope it passes. We had the lovely code enforcement officer out today to give us a summons for too many chickens. Whatever

We'll be in Brighton by the end of the month so she can pick on someone else for too tall grass or snoring too loud during the night or whatever she's feeling that day. Sorry but she's a very unfriendly, power-tripping woman, who acts like the new sheriff in town if you know what I mean. (I know, I know, just doing her job

This
is a link with more details but the way I understand it, the new ordinance will allow 8 chickens or ducks and 2 dwarf goats without paying a permit fee or getting permission from your neighbors. I guess the current process is lengthy and expensive.

I really hope that Broomfield follows suit and starts to allow chickens. Right now I have wonderful neighbors and wonderful chicks. We hope to move next Spring but for now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we continue to go unnoticed.

I know a few of the AC officers due to both work and private rescue. Some in Arvada are better than others, there are 2 that I find myself being very cautious with. There are others that are much better to work with. I can tell you that they didnt just stop by someone had to have turned you in with a complaint. During a very frank conversation with 3 officers regarding dog licensing at a vet clinics open house I was informed by animal control that people who have more animals than allowed are not targeted by animal control unless someone makes an actual complaint. Once a complaint has been made then AC has to follow up,sometimes its within the officers discretion to not write a summons sometimes its not and they have too. Did you tell this one you were gone at the end of the month?

Yes I did tell her. This our 2nd go round with her. I complied the first time and got rid of my birds then I came across some Arvada codes and animal limits and it says 14 at one point. So I got more. But the 2 chickens or 2 Turkeys is being thrown at me. (And this is a Code Enfrcmnt Officer not AC).
