Colorado

Congratulations Denver !!! I'm so jeleous!
Are there any BYC Denver people planning on getting goats? I just want to live vicariously by hearing about your new freedom to do what long ago used to be considered a perfectly normal thing to do. I don't think people hardly realize what kind of boxes we have to put ourselves in to not run *afowl* of the multitude of restrictions in our modern society.

No goats for me

Mostly because I don't think I'd go for goat milk... who knows though, maybe when I retire some year.

No wonder I've been getting so many calls on my goats!

3 calls last night and 2 calls this morning! Plus, I had a few calls of people asking if I was also selling any chickens or chicks.

Good for Denver on this one.

Peter Boyles on KHOW was spewing more ignorance about backyard chickens on his show this morning. He seems to think that only illegal immigrants are wanting to raise chickens.

Maybe he will change his mind the next time the corporate farms that help pay his salary have their next salmonella scare and it hits a little closer to home. But if no, thats ok too. He's obviously not a champion of self sufficiency and thinks corporate america knows best for his family. He is afterall being paid by those against much of what we do. It's not that hard to buy air time.

cackydoodledoo,

Thank you for letting me know about your roos. After thought, I realized that I have too much going on right now to go to Pueblo for one roo and don't currently have the facilities to take more, choose the ones I want to keep and then rehome the rest (yeah, I was trying to think of a way to justify the drive). I think I'm trying to just get everything all settled at once and that's probably not the best idea.

While you probably weren't biting your nails in anxiety

waiting on my decision, I thought it was only polite to let you know. Thanks again, anyway.

Speaking of rosters, what are we going to do with the influx of 'illegal' roosters in Denver? I've had to deal with it on a small scale... the occaisional sexed pullet that start crowing one night. This law is going to spawn a new industry in the city. We need a chicken exchange or something. I'll trade you 2 illegal roosters for.... some chicken feed??? Personally, I think this change in the law is exactly what we need, but questions remain... business opportunities perhaps?

While slaughter is illegal in Denver (darn those voodoo cults that are apparently rampant in Denver), there's a processor in Berthoud, which is my plan for unwelcome roosters.
