More chicks or rabbits or igloos?

So we got our chicks...... All survived and appear to be in good health. 16 Ameraucana (I think they're actually EE, we'll have to wait and see), 25 Doms and 2 Naragansett Turkey poults; one of which has ADD. Now, we've never had turkeys before, but I seriously think one of them has ADD. Having had two sons with ADD, I think I know the symptoms... This one walks around the brooder being distracted by everything going on. He will stop and take a bite of food, then go off to see what the other chicks are doing. If he sees one run to the waterer, he will go take a sip, then get distracted and go off in another direction. I think he will either starve or be in great shape, because he is always walking around distracted. I saw him take two successive pecks at the food only once. This guy is NUTS!

Of the Dominiques we have at least 15 pullets, which puts us back on track for the numbers I wanted. I'm going to attempt to find time this afternoon to take a couple of photos.

Next I get to battle the HOA. Apparently our rental property falls into an "Amended" HOA that has architectural oversight for our community. The nosy neighbor 3 doors down has a problem with my chickens and 3 indoor dogs. We're only allowed two dogs so she sent a letter to the property manager that we must get rid of one dog and the chickens!

I only rented this home because it "wasn't" in an HOA. I lived in Highlands Ranch for 3 years and ABSOLUTELY hated it. I work out of town a lot and they fined me and put a lien on my house because I set trash cans out on Wednesday and got called out of town for two weeks. A big thanks to all the kind neighbors we had! hahaha

is anyone being effected by the fire by 287 and hwy 14? My inlaws have a house up there and we're hoping that they don't loose it.

There's an air quality warning today in the loveland/fort collins area as well.

I'm looking for PUBLISHED data on the following poultry breeds:

Delaware
New Hampshire
Plymouth Rock
Java
Welsumer
Australorp
Maran

I'm looking very specifically at Rate of Lay; Growth rate and Foraging Habits. Does anyone know a good publication, website or published source that would contain the information that I'm looking for on these breeds of poultry??

Thank you for any help that you might be able to provide.

I mover here 14 years ago, the first week we got a letter because my little brother left his bike in the front year on the first day. I have gotten letters for having 3 dandelion's in my yard, and I am sure next year (if I am lucky) they will make us dig up our front tree (whole yard) because the roots are showing. Yea I could do without an HOA.

On a cute note Menchi is perching, She just got to the top of the feeder....making me nervous she will fall in one night but fun to watch her flap around the cage.

Have you checked with the BYC pages for those breeds? Someone may be able to point you in a good direction... I did that with the Dominiques. Got good information, some published, some not.

Oh yes.... I've play the weed game with them as well. And heaven forbid my grass grow longer than 3" before I get a spare second to mow it.
