Colorado

Just spent the last 1/2 hour on the phone with my 86 YO mother in CA. Last week her friends had her all scared cuz of the fire up by Ft Collins, telling her I was probably in danger (sheesh).

Figured if any of them heard parts of CS were evacuating she would have a heart attack. Explaining to her how NOT in danger I was was not easy. She has no concept of distance, direction or impediments to fire movement. Still, very scary stuff.

Anna decided that her henabaggo was better going up the Pass into Woodland Park then out here in Falcon. So she made it up the Pass and all's well with her babies.

Forgot to say that Beth and I enjoyed the meetup today! Beth says to Janelle to "own it" as in "Own the foo foo!" Doofuss, there are two pullets here with your name on them....... Mo, you and your wife have a good start on the coop/pen project!

Thanks for the input on the prolapse. We did have to put her out of her misery. She was in alot of pain and it just wasnt feasable to take her to a vet. We got the egg out afterward and it didn't have a shell and it was stuck really far in there and had to be peeled out. I miss my Ellie, but at least she's not in pain anymore.

My thoughts are with anyone who is affected by all these fires.

I'm sorry for your loss. These critters become part of our family and its never easy to lose a feathered baby.

My prayers go out to Anna, these fires are scary this year.i have been letting my chicks free range and have three baby pools out for water along with their regular dishes. They are being watched over by my three border collies and two geese. They are hanging out under the trees and deck then put in the coop at night. I think predators would rather not deal with three dogs plus we are home . We have eight acres but it is fenced in with horse fence. Again my prayers go out to all those affected by these fires. I love all you BYC people even though I don't post often, stay safe.
