I read the article, and it's oenwer says it escaped, and its not the first time. Critters like that are what shotguns were invented for! Just my opinion. If you're in Woodland Park, keep the kids and chickens secure!

So the other day Beth and I are sitting in the chicken pens watching and relaxing, etc. and all of a sudden they all run under the coops, both pens. We look up and see a HUGE heron slowly fly overhead and away. Then one or two of them stick their heads out to see if the danger is gone, then they all come back out again. Too funny.

Can I just say how much I hate working on stuff over my head. Am busy (well not now cuz I'm taking a break) trying to get some overhead shade in the run. Can only seem to keep my arms up for about 5 minutes before I am ready for a break.

The bummer is I know this is only a temporary fix and that this fall I'm going to have to do it over again but with something more permanent.

Ashdoes I know there are swaps in the Pueblo area, I think there was one either last weekend or the weekend before that. Someone usually announces it on here the week before. I've seen it come up a couple of times. They probably have it once a month or so.

I Live up in Latigo, which is just east of Eastonville, and the birds I get from Big R are always beutifull birds, but I do agree with you on the gamble of what breed it is. (I usually just get ducks, which are easy to tell apart). You might also try Falcon Feed, they are right behind Big R, the owners are our neighbors, and from what I have heard, they are super kind! If you ask, I'm sure they could place a special order for you if they don't have any in in August.

something has to work... or i could just be unable to boil a proper egg. When I moved here, it took months before my bread came out right. Finally, I went to a completely different method. I'm glad because the no-knead method works sooo much better and the long fermentation is so much tastier.
I've been working on the hard boiled egg thing for awhile. So far my best trick is poking a little hole in the big end of the egg. (I use a paperclip end). Boil water, add a couple pinches of baking soda, boil 17 min (I'm in Durango, works at my altitude), then ice bath. Usually works pretty slick. Good luck.
