Colorado

I will probably be there but I will be resisting the temptation to buy any more birds. Window shopping only!
Window shopping? How is that done?? I seem to get every time I go!!
Nope. Got to build roof trisses for the hen house. Yes, it's big enough to need trusses...

It's easy. I just make sure I don't bring any cash. Or my debit card. Anything but my license really. And before we get there I tell DH not to let me talk him into anything feathery, no matter how cute. Worked so far. Mostly...

The thing that amazes me about chickens is this:

If you have a 100 chickens, people do not raise an eyebrow; but if you've got a 100 cats, you're the lead-off story on the evening news.

Chickens......there's safety in numbers.

YES!!!! Finally caught the nefarious vermin! I had a pair of mice living under my bantam coop. I tried snap traps and between ants clearing off the bait, the sun melting it away and the softest pawed varments EVER eating it and WALKING AWAY... I switched to glue traps and just left the door to the coop closed today. Heck, it only has one occupant currently and she is so far gone in brooding that I have to force her to get sunlight every so often.

I caught the first mouse an hour after setting the traps and the second two hours after that! This after a week with the snap traps! I am leaving two more traps out for a while more, just in case there are more in the wings... :D

Added: And make that three.

I'm surprised they didn't take care of the mice themselves.

Just occurred to me; do I need to do anything to try and up the humidity in the coop when 'lockdown' time rolls around? We are so dry up here...

Mama hen is quite warm and gives off just the right amount of humidity. Have you candled them yet?

This is my frizzle chick that is almost 3 months old. The others seem to be feathering in ok.... is this feather peck or something else? I blue-koted the little chicklet tonight just in case but she does have downy fur all over and its not bare. Suggestions?

Wow Becky,

I thought Weazer was super small. Hard to believe they are from the same batch...or did you get more chicks!?!?

No new chicks! This little one is from the same batch. Crazy, huh? My biggest one is already starting to get feathers on her head and poor Baby barely has any feathers at all!
